3rd Trimester

pants too tight. *sigh*

I hate to stock my closet full of maternity clothes, but now even my maternity pants are getting too tight. The only thing comfortable are dresses and sweat pants. I wore a pair of pants to work today that I had bought from JcPenney that were size small maternity and I had to cut the waist band! I had to go shopping on my lunch break just to get a pair of comfortable pants. :( I can't buy a pair bigger than a medium because they would swallow me whole. I'm pretty much all belly. I wanted to buy a pair of sweat pants and be done with it, but I figured...might as well get new pants since I still have 10 weeks to go. *side note-are pants that are too tight bad for the baby? That's why I bought new ones, wasn't sure.

  • I am wearing the same maternity clothes from when pg with DD. What sucks is I was heavier when I got pg with her than with this one. I have only gained 10 lbs and all my pants are snug and my shirts are not always covering my belly lol. I refuse to buy more clothes as this is it for us and I still have 8 1/2 weeks to go before EDD. I may be resorting to the 2 dresses and my husbands shorts that I have found to be comfy.

  • I wouldn't think so, the baby is surrounded with so much fluid that I don't think tight pants would hurt the baby. But if you plan on having any more kids you can think or your new pants as an investment. I bought 5 non-maternity maxi dresses at the beginning of this pregnancy so I could grow and they'd still fit, they have been my lifesavers. I am most comfortable in the dresses, and after LO is born I can still wear them (if its not too cold)
  • I actually just posted to someone else who was having clothes issues.  If you're a skirt person, and don't want to spend a lot, go to your local thrift store and scour the racks for nice skirts that have a comfy waistband (not a zipper).  I found 3 or 4 with the tags still on them for about $6 each...they're the only thing comfortable for work right now.

When I get home, it's a pair of DH's boxers or an old pair of his gym shorts, depending on the day.

  • Do you have a 2nd hand maternity store in your town-- you can probably take in some things that are getting too tight/short and exchange them for a key peice or two to wear during the home stretch.

  • I know what you mean. I put on my aternity pants the other day and they ripped. Talk about depressing. I wanted to cry. I only gained 16lbs the entire time. I went out and bought a pair of black sweats that don't have any writing on it so I can wear them to work.

  • I hear ya!  The skirt I wore yesterday was stretched to the max around my stomach and by the end of the day I was ready to rip it off!  Everything's getting tighter for me too, but I'm not buying anything else.

I have had a couple days where I am so sick of my maternity pants by the time I get home that they come off the second I'm in the front door, I dont even WAIT to get to my bedroom HA
