The dreaded "weight post"

You know we all think about it.... "Have I gained enough?"  "Have I gained too much?"  etc.  And we're sometimes afraid to start the convo in fear of being flamed!  Here's your flamefree chance to gripe or say how happy you are about your weigh in!

Most importantly, how are you feeling about it?

Re: The dreaded "weight post"

  • I started at 148, dropped down to 141, and now I'm at 150. I feel pretty good about it. My Dr. is happy, so I am happy!

  • At my appt last week I was still down, currently at -5 lbs pre-preg.  But at this point in my previous pregnancy I was down 13lbs and gained quite a bit in the last tri so I'm a little concerned now :)  There's a good chance I could balloon up in the last 10 weeks like last time!  And probably worse!

Dr's not concerned- I have plenty to spare :)  But otherwise I am content with it!  Considering how much I'll likely gain at the end.

  • I stopped weighing myself at home because I was driving myself nuts! But at my 18 week appt I had gained 5 pounds, which I was very happy about. My doc wants me to gain 25-35 which I think is looking good, hopefully on the 25 side lol

  • Down 3 more lbs from my last appointment, and 6lbs down from my pre preg weight. Not gaining yet isn't my concern, it's that I'm still losing. MW said that if I didn't gain weight by my next appointment (which is in 2 weeks) they were going to have to start to worry Sad. No way it's going to happen, so let the worry begin.

  • Gained 5lbs at 19wks.   I'm happy with the gain since I started overweight and have worked really hard not to gain too much.  My mom had gestational diabetes and hearing all her horror stories, I'm trying very hard to avoid it and to stay healthy.

  • I'll be the fatty since the rest of you are losing ;) I'm up about 15 lbs. I packed on 10 pretty quickly (like within 10 weeks) cause my "food baby" made me feel and look more pregnant ;) the last 8 weeks I've put on 5 so I feel better.

  • I gained 5 pound at this appointment (3 weeks since last), and I'm THRILLED!  I haven't been gaining, and this puts me at the 12 pound mark, so I'm very happy with it.  In fact, I texted my mom today and said it's so refreshing to finally be able to enjoy whatever I want trying to gain weight rather than dry heaving at the thought of food.

  • I have my appt tomorrow. So we will see. I feel ok and my Dr. isnt concerned so I think Im ok. Its always weight that can be lost after baby is born. I am trying to keep that in mind.
  • I am right around the 15 lb mark. I have only gained 3 lbs in the last month but the month before that was 6 lbs and I was soooooo shocked. It looks like I have gained more since I have never had a belly before now. I will see officially what I have gained tomorrow at my monthly check-up.

Protein shakes I haven't tried, eating more then I should and tons of high fat/cal things I have. I don't have morning sickness and I feel great. All I do is eat lol! The MW also said that they won't worry to much as long as baby is growing (she measures on track externally, she hasn't been measured on an u/s yet), but they are going to be keeping a very close eye on her. My main worry is I have been diagnosed with IUGR twice with pregnancy weight gains of around 30lbs, so it seems more likely this time.

  • I had lost 12 lbs at my 16 week appt due to severe m/s. I have gained four back in the past two weeks since I stopped vomiting and started eating. I don't really mind as long as I know that I am eating healthy. Of course the occasional ice cream treat does find its way into my diet :)

  • Okay, I'll admit it. I'm apparently a big ol' fatty. Smile I've gained, according to my doctor's office, 13lbs.  I don't think they had my official starting weight, though. Heeeheee.  I'm pretty sure it's closer to 20lbs, but whatevs.  I'm on track (for me anyway) to gain about 40lbs and I'm okay with that.  As long as I don't hit the 65lbs I gained with my first, I'm happy.

I do eat pretty healthy, just tend to indulge in the desserts.  It'll all come off after the pregnancy with nursing and working out, so not too worried.

  • I'll admit. I've gained 13lbs.
At this point with DD I was up probably 20lbs to be honest.. but I also started heavier this time.
My goal was to only gian 15-25lbs total (since I started slightly overweight) so I really need to get my butt in gear :) I eat fine but just haven't been to the gym...

I am in the exact same situation. I never thought I'd have trouble gaining weight. I'm eating so much, and most if it is very high fat/cal. But zero gain. I was down 3 more pounds at my last appt.

My OB told me to add an Ensure a day.  I have FINALLY stopped losing, but I'm still not gaining. I feel your pain.

  • I did not go to the doctor until I was 10 weeks; at that appt I weighed 135. At my 19 week appt I weighed 142! So according to doctor I have gained seven. According to my scale at home I weighed 128 when I was 4 weeks, so according to my scale I have gained 14 pounds.

I am short (5'1'') and every pound shows on me. I feel really upset about it and I feel like a fat a$$, not a pregnant lady :( Thanks for the flamefree rant :)

  • I was up just under 10 lbs at my 19 week appt last week. I'm pretty pleased because I know I gained more than that by this point last time. I gained 50 lbs with DS so I'm hoping NOT to repeat that. If I stay at 1 lb a week I'll be right on track around 30 lbs total.

  • hahaha pretty sure I've got you all beat :) last time I checked (a week ago at 18 weeks), I had gained 27 pounds. I was a little underweight pre-pregnancy, and with twins I am supposed to be gaining that much for my frame, so I'm happy about it but yeah, it's a little freaky! I was never sick 1st tri either, so that helped a lot with the weight gain :)

  • I've gained 15lbs. Not thrilled about it, but I'm honestly not pigging out and I still exercise 45-90 minutes most days. I know I'm healthy even if I have gained a bit fast. My weight gain slowed in the late 2nd tri and 3rd tri with my last two pregnancies, so maybe my body just doesn't follow the norm. I gained 25 and 30 with those pregnancies, which I'd be thrilled with at this point.

  • I started out at 135 and am up to 150, so about 15 pounds.  At 15 weeks I was only up about 4 pounds, so about 10 pounds have been in the last 6 weeks, which is kind of freaking me out.  If I stick with a pound a week I will be within the proper range of 25-35, but at this rate I am going to exceed it.  Maybe it is time to actually start paying attention to what I eat and try to start exercising:(

  • At my 20 wk appt, I was up 5lbs, I'm happy with that since I know the majority of the weight is yet to come in the 3rd tri! I'm a little under what I had gained in my first pregnancy at this point. In total I gained 35 lbs last time and was able to lose it all in 6 months (thanks, Jenny Craig!) so if I can keep it around the same this time I'll be happy.

  • I've gained 7 lbs so far with this LO which is okay with my OB since I am a "little overweight" to begin with. I didn't lose my last 20 lbs I had gained with DS before this pregnancy. But I am hoping to only gain another 15, however if I gain more I know it will be no where near what I gained with DS so I will be happy either way!

  • I started off at 114lbs at my and now I'm up to 125lbs at 20 weeks.  So that puts me at 11lbs.  I'm just starting to look like I have a bump rather than looking like I have a food baby!

  • after reading everyone's weight report it's nice to say that i have not gained, but still down 8lbs pre pregnancy weight.  I had a bunch to give up pre pregnancy so it's not a big deal.  I had been down 15 pre pregnancy but had gained some of those lost back in the past six weeks.  I am hoping with a healthy diet the next twenty weeks that I don't gain more than 10-15,but we will see.

on a different note i pulled a ligament in my foot/shin and enjoying extreme pain in my foot all day!

  • I had a really hard time gaining weight from morning sickness. I finally am up 3lbs. I'm not so worried anymore since I am starting to gain and my belly is growing. We will see what the doctor says on wednesday!
  • I have gained 8lbs as of 21 weeks.

I'm with you. I've gained 30 lbs with my twins so far and my doctor seems to be absolutely fine with that. I keep waiting for her to say it's too much, but in my books the rec weight gain for a healthy twin pregnancy is 40-55 lbs. So you are on target!
  • At my 16 week appointment I had gained 6lb so far - I was kinda shocked as I thought I would have gained more seeing as how much I had been eating.

I have never been skinny, nor massively overweight - I would say average. Usually I just have to look at a chocolate bar and it goes straight to my hips.

The difference I am finding with this weight though is it is not going to the usual places - Usually I put weight on my face & hips before anywhere else but to be honest, I cant see where I have put the 6lbs (or more now) on which I am happy about. As long as my face and hips do not bloat I am happy - Although I can see a little has gone on my back which I do not like.

The midwife said she is happy and so, I am happy with it too

  • I am still down 3lbs from pre-pregnancy weight, but have gained 3lbs from my lowest weight, so I am super happy with that. Dr. would love to see me in the 15-20lb range (my BMI was just into the overweight category) so I am really pleased. I know the pounds will start to pack on so I just gotta keep an eye on it!

  • I gain weight VERY quickly when pregnant.  It seems like every bite I put into my mouth translates into weight gain for me, which kinda sucks.  What is funny though is that I have gained way more than most of you, and I am thrilled about it.

I am up 17lbs at about 22 weeks.  At a pound a week for the remainder of the pregnancy, it would put me at a 35lb gain, which sure as hell beats the over 60 I gained last time.

  • At my 18 week appointment I had gained about 9lbs which I was actually pretty pleased about because I've been terrified of gaining too much weight. I could totally see myself gaining like 40+ lbs and I really don't want to do that! My doctor was ok with the weight gain but told me to just watch it a little bit over the next few weeks as most women tend to really pack it on in the 3rd tri and they only want me to gain about 20-25lbs max. I was a little over weight to start with. However, it could have been worse! I actually started Weight Watchers in January and by the time I was pregnant about 4 months later, I had lost 28 lbs! Now I have to pretty much gain it back, lol, but better that than having to add it to the weight I was in January. I feel I have much better eating habits now, so I'm really grateful I did it. And I feel pretty confident that I'll be able to lose the baby weight afterwards.

  • Honestly, I am not very happy with my weight gain. I am up 12 lbs at 19 weeks. This is my 3rd pg and I have never been this much this early so I am really nervous that I am going to gain a ton more than I did last time. I did lose about 20lbs earlier this year and started out about 7lbs lighter than I did with my other pgs so I don't know if my body needed some extra fat up front or what. I was so hungy...still am. I just hope it evens out or stops for a little while.

According to the pg weight calc, I am only 1lb over the window I should be at but I still feel huge. I am getting a ton of stretch marks that I never had before because I have gotten bigger so much faster. I look about 10 weeks further along than I did in previous pgs.

    19wks: 124

9lb gain. I'm right on track in my point of view and according to a pregnancy weight gain tracker I'm right between the low and high range of weight gain.  I'm trying my hardest not to worry about gaining weight I've never had but I want to gain what I have to for my little girl.

  • I'm down about 5 pounds (started at 178... my "pre baby #2 weight").  I was diagnosed with GD at 10wks and although it's great for keeping weight gain in check, I'm really struggling with it.  With taking care of the boys all day, it's SO hard to stop and plan out my meals to meet my carb requirements plus add in the protiens and fats they want me to add.  I often just want to skip a meal because I don't have time to think about what's best to eat.  It's been really hard....

With DS1, I gained 40lbs.  With DS2, I gained 17lbs (all in the first 24wks - I gained nothing after being diagnosed with GD).  Who knows what the end result will look like this time...
