I destroyed our expensive full color baby monitor because I'm an idiot. We went to the beach for the weekend and while packing to come home I tried to squish it into a too small space. I just wasn't thinking. I feel like such a jerk. My DH is an electrical engineer and he's going to try and fix it (something about stripping wires and soldering). I hope it works because I can't live without it. Have you accidentally destroyed anything expensive. Please help me feel better.

Re: I am such an impatient klutz (also I can't spell. Lol)
Is it a summer infant? Try calling the company! I hear they have really great customer service.
I haven't wrecked anything expensive, but I did lose my wallet with over 300 dollars worth of gift cards in it. I wanted to just die!
About a week after getting our brand new stove/oven I dropped the pepper shaker on it and chipped it.
H was more than gracious and after a little epoxy and some white paint...good as new!
I hope your H is able to fix your monitor...I always get sick to my stomach when stuff like this happens.
Well, do you remember my recently smashed iPhone? Yea, that sucked.
I used to work at an engraving shop, and ruined a few fairly expensive things, but nothing over $50. I ALMOST ruined an $8,000 clock once. It was a hand-crafted wooden clock that was about 3 feet in diameter custom made for the OSU baseball team the first year they won the college world series. It had hand painted portraits of all the players on it, and we'd been working on it for months with the clock maker.
I had laser engraved various decorations on it including the signatures of the coaches. When the maker of the clock came to pick it up he asked me if I could darken the signatures by putting 'laserdarc' in it, which is a black powder that sticks in engraving and you wipe off the excess. He followed me back to my work table and asked if he could watch! I was like, omg, um I guess...
So right in front of him I put the laserdarc in and wipe it off and it goes all down in the grain of the wood and smudges everywhere! I'd never laserdarced unfinished wood before, and the clock had a shiny coat on it, but it wasn't finished. I almost died right then and there. I spent the next several hours using double sided tape and compressed air to get the black powder out of the wood grain.
I love it when hubby's can come to the rescue and fix stuff like that.
DH and I lived in an appt that had a tiny garage space and I ripped the side-view mirror off the passenger side when I was backing out one time.
Luckily my DH is a mechanic and whenever I screw things up with our cars he can get parts for cheap and fix everything for us.
