Hi was just wondering if anyone had any experience or advice on how one might reset there lifetime infertility insurance max? Would switching jobs to a new company work? If i have say United at my company an used it up and then we switched to say United at my husband's job would the lifetime allowance reset?
Just looking for any advice or strategies from anyone who has had success with this as we have maxed out our insurance and want to continue but cannot afford to.
Thanks in Advance for your advice
Ann

It's my understanding that you have to switch insurance companies. So if you have United, you would need to change to Blue Cross, Kaiser, etc.
My cousin reached her lifetime IUI max with Atena, and I suggested she switch to Kaiser at open enrollment. She did that, and was able to cycle with Kaiser.
There may be certain restrictions in different states and the guidlines set by the employers plan. So try talking to your HR rep and also your DH's HR rep.
Also, I believe a pre exsisting condition can only be denied if it's a private plan or if there has been a lapse in insurance coverage. Not If it's through an employers plan, and you went from your last job to your current job, they shouldn't be able to deny a pre exsisting condition. Again, this is is based on CA guidelines.

Good luck to you!

This. I'm with BCBS and have used most of my IF coverage. I'm switching to my DH's insurance later this year (Aetna) because he also has IF coverage. We've called his carrier several times to get the details and they didn't have any concerns with this. GL!

Well at my company i have straight up United and i have just reached my max. Enrollment is in November and i am wondering if i should switch to the Aetna plan at my company or if I should drop my insurance and have my husband who is offered Oxford (a United company) at his company and go on his plan during enrollment. Not sure if lifetime max is a company offering or a health plan company max? My husband works at a small company and his boss is totally on board with trying to help us out but just want to make sure we don't switch in vain
Anyone else have any advice or experience in this matter? Just don't want to make the wrong decision.
Thanks again in advance for any advice or similar experience
I would think that if Oxford is a part of United Health Care, you may run into problems. Usually a lifetime max means, insurance company life time max. Not employer lifetime max. So I would check out the Aetna plan if I were you.
If you do pursue Oxford, and someone tells you that you will be covered, be sure to get it in writing! Always watch your own back. You would hate to have to sit out for a year, and sometimes those insurance complanies can be tricky!!
Good luck!
