s/o Earthquake...

What is your biggest fear?

Earthquakes are by far my biggest fear! I was 12 when the Northridge, CA 6.8 (or something like that) hit. I remember it like yesterday.

I also fear spiders way more than I should.

  • Tornadoes. They intrigue and excite me and scare me all at the same time. I've been through several - one night I barely escaped alive - and watched some from the distance... even chased some when I worked in news (with proper training, of course).

And spiders... even harmless Daddy Longlegs! Blech!!

    Drowning.

I too fear spiders more than I should.

    Both of these.

Drowning, choking... not being able to breathe are the scariest things I can imagine. As for spiders, it's almost irrational.  Embarrassed

I'm with you on the losing DH thing.  Sometimes I think about it, and I'll start crying, and DH just rolls his eyes because he knows I'm cray cray.

My biggest fear is to burn alive or be crawled all over by bugs, especially roaches.

Same here. We actually went through a period where I told him that all the time when he was trying to quit smoking (for a while he didn't understand why I'd get so upset about him smoking). Other than that, definitely snakes and spiders. Can't stand them!

  • Biggest? That's hard I'm scared of a lot of stuff. I think burning alive and drowning are way up there. I'm also scared of large things and being in a plane crash, though, too. Also, alien invasion, zombieapocalypse, and snakes.

Me too. I'm a pretty strong person and I'm usually someone who can be counted on as calm in a crisis... but I honestly don't know if I could handle that.

I also have an irrational fear of earthworms, which is funny, because I'm a farmer.  I almost killed DH when he tossed one in my hand one time thinking it was funny... not realizing that this isn't a "teehee" freak-out.  This is a serious freak the fvck out.

Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

  • My most horrible fear ever is that I will somehow lose DS (Alex is 4).  He is the center of mine and DH's lives and I probably couldn't deal if anything ever happened to him.  I mean, he needed B/W at his 4 year check-up last month and I nearly cried, ughhh.

Other than that, I am super terrified of spiders.  EWWWW.

  • Sharks.  For sure.
When I was about 11, I did that thing at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon where you can swim with sharks (nurse sharks, and they were like 20 feet below you... I wonder if this even still exists, it sounds like an insurance nightmare in retrospect) and even that terrified the living sh!t out of me.  I also have/had a recurring nightmare brought on by the great white sculpture that's hanging above the line to the walk-thru shark tank  at SeaWorld.

  • I also have quite a few irrational fears (or totally rational depending on how you look at it). They are:

losing DH- big time fear (really glad to know I'm not the only cray cray one on this)

deep water - you never know what's in there!

subsequent large animals in the deep water

getting lost at sea/falling overboard- basically some sort of Titanic incident

LA drivers- they are really, really bad, and could result in said fear #1

getting fired/becoming homeless- totally irrational, but you never know!

dying young- I fully intend for DH and I to live until we are 102!

not being able to have children of my own- totally irrational at this stage in the game

  • Crickets.  Holy sh!t I hate them.  One time they had disced a huge field near my house and it must have uneartherd a bajillion crickets.  DH was working out of town and I had left my porch light on.  We live out in the sticks so it was the only light in the vicinity and it attracted crickets....as in the porch, walls, columns, ceiling were completely covered in crickets.  I lost it big time.  I called my mom bawling that I couldn't get in the house.  She had to drive to my house and use the water hose to spray the porch down.  The next day I had the exterminator spraying the hell out of my house.  ::shudders::

You would hate my house then!  We have a gecko and it lives on crickets.  We have to buy them every week and feed them to her.  I have a little "cricket corral" that we keep them in.
