There are actually some studies going on right now about pot and the effectiveness of its use in pregnancy for severe nausea/vomiting. There are a few books out on the subject already, actually. Don't be too quick to pull out the pitch fork.

I've known plenty of ladies who have smoked pot while pregnant and their babies/kids are just fine. If someone wants to take a toke to cure some morning sickness and be able to have an appetite, who am I to judge?

I think that's pretty irresponsible. There are other FDA approved ways to reduce morning sickness. Drugs bought off of some corner is not one of them. I can't believe that any woman who is about to be a mother would even consider doing that. I still get morning sickness at almost 29 weeks and I would NEVER smoke pot to ease morning sickness or gain an appetite. Edited because autocorrect on my phone blows.

Yeah, and those drugs were prescribed to help with some sort of illness - such as depression. There are other ways around morning sickness that don't include pot. I think some women who smoke pot during pregnancy is using morning sickness as an excuse to smoke. Try B6, seabands, or even Zofran.

Obviously smoking pot during pregnancy is a bad idea. Consuming any drug during pregnancy is a bad idea.

However, I wouldn't be so quick to judge. There are FDA approved drugs out there, even that are deemed okay for use during pregnancy, that I would feel much less comfortable consuming right now than THC.

There have been numerous studies, and the only ones to show any negative effects failed to isolate marijuana from alcohol and other drugs. There have been several studies that could not show that marijuana is dangerous to a fetus, and one that even suggests that babies exposed in the womb were less fussy (whether that's a positive thing, I don't know). So anyone who claims that there are no studies and that we have no idea of the effects is misinformed. Furthermore, there is doubtless a significant segment of women in the world who have smoked pot while pregnant but would lie about it in a study or survey, so there are many more people out there who were exposed than we'll ever know.

Obviously, being unable to prove something is harmful is not the same as proving it to be safe. But I think the witch hunt is irrational.

And saying someone should call CPS because a woman asked a question? That's a mighty high horse you're on there.

I love drama every once in a while. It keeps me entertained while on bed rest.
