Well after a seemingly uneventful pregnancy I started spotting red today. Ironically I had just gotten home from buying my first pair of maternity jeans. :-/ Anyway, I noticed the dark red spotting (no clots) when I wiped after using the restroom. I immediately went straight to the ER. The u/s showed a very active, healthy baby with a normal heart rate (151). The tech said she saw no reason for the bleeding except that my placenta appeared to be "low" which MIGHT cause it. But before the u/s tech took me to get the u/s done they asked for a urine sample. When I used the restroom I was no longer bleeding. After my u/s however they did a pelvic exam. The doctor confirmed that my cervix is closed but during his exam I started bleeding much heavier. They discharged me with a "threatened miscarriage" diagnosis. Before discharging me the doctor said right now everything looks fine with the baby, but it could go either way. So it's a waiting game at this point. I am still bleeding since he did the exam, and now I feel crampy -- which I did not have prior to the ER. Anyway, I have never had a good outcome from this diagnosis before, some positive stories would really be helpful right now. On the bright side, I've also never made it to second trimester before either.

I know so many ladies on here have had your same situation and carried their babies to full term. I'm keeping you in my thoughts.
Are you going to see your doctor tomorrow?
Yeah, I am going to follow up with my OB tomorrow. Praying the bleeding subsides and I get positive feedback from my OB.
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I just don't know why it is taking so long for the bleeding to stop since I left the ER, when it had completely stopped before they did the exam. Ugh...

Everything that I've quoted above (excuse the ..., didn't need to quote the whole post) is really making me thing sensitive cervix.
I had sensitive cervix in 1st Tri and even something as minor as a BM could lead to spotting which would then clear up pretty quickly (you mention yours was gone for your PIAC). I also had bleeding after my doc did my pap that looked like something out of a slasher film. It lessened relatively quickly (several hours) and cleared up within a day or so. Vagcam and intercourse also led to spotting for me...pretty much if there was a disturbance in that general area, I'd spot. I'm wondering if the cramping you're having might be from the pelvic exam. I know in years past I've had some general discomfort after those. Just a thought.
It could also be placenta previa.
