Sick of people commenting how "un-pregnant" I look! PIP

So Ive seen the bump pics and some people are just so HUGE but its sooooo cute!!! It never really bothered me because I always thought, as long as baby is healthy and growing it doesnt matter what I look like. Im 21 weeks and my belly looks like some of the 14 weekers at most and I just look extra extra pudgy is anything. I think this is mostly cuz im a larger girl so its taking a lot more to show cuz of my already existing belly (im a size 16-18). Lately when people ask how far along I am and I say 21 weeks they do a double take, stare and my belly and say.. "Wow.. you dont even look pregnant!". This has happened numerous times and its starting to hurt my feelings. Maybe its my pregnancy hormones but I feel like im missing out. So sad :(

pic taken today (sorry its big)

  • I saw your post in 2nd tri and I have the same reaction! But I was a size 8 before baby and am pretty active....the doctor said my weight and growth is fine, but man I see the pics and wonder where my baby is! I do not have a cute baby bump, just a little cupcake lump! I finally told my coworkers/boss last week and they didn't believe me. They are still searching for baby...I am waiting for that 1st random comment at a store but have a feeling its going to take a few more weeks before that happens. I guess it's a good thing because I will have less to take off afterwards!

  • I didn't look pg with both of my previous children until I was 7 months. I am not a larger girl, but everybody's body is different. This time, I started looking 6 months pg at 11 weeks. I had the opposite problem, I was already getting the "Is it twins?" comments and even "Wow you are huge". Just know that everyone is different, and most people think they are complimenting you when they say how small you are. At this point healthy baby and low weight gain, means less to worry about after baby is born.

  • Try not to let it get you down. I'm size 16 also, and have always been more pear shaped. I feel like my tummy just looks like it matches my huge hips/thighs now. Nobody can tell I'm pregnant yet except family (which doesn't help much since they are 3000miles away).
We will look pregnant in our own good time. Just smile when you see yourself in the mirror because YOU can tell!

  • Other than to my husband, no one else has noticed I look pregnant, even when I wear a maternity dress.  I'm still offered wine and alcohol at parties, wineries, and restaurants.  When I was scanning stuff for my registry, customers came up to me asking for help -- they thought I worked there, not that I was getting stuff for myself in the baby aisle!

    I was a size 6-8 before.

  • I'm also one of those girls that is not really showing yet!  I was a size 4-5 and now while I am not fitting into my former pants, I am not really looking 5 1/2 months!  No one at work can really see that I am pregnant.  One woman just keeps saying that I look like I have a beer belly not a baby.  This is not what I want to hear at 22weeks!  It really annoys me somedays!  Angry
  • ack! I feel your pain. I'm still waiting to pop. I just feel fat. What's worse...there is a very limited supply of plus size maternity clothes available for me to even feel pregnant on the outside. I've resorted to giant t-shirts and whatever I can squeeze into that's already hanging in my closet. I don't feel cute at all....just fat.

Hang in there. With my son I would swear that one morning I woke up to a big belly. It happened literally over night. Then I turned into a house and everyone swore I had twins on the way.

    It's coming.

  • I was a 16-18 before I got pregnant and I am in the same boat. Even my husband thinks I should be bigger. I just figure I have alot of room for the baby to hide.

Don't let it bother you too much, you'll be showing by the end. (at least this is what I keep telling myself)

  • Well if it makes you feel better, I think you look bigger than what I picture 21 weeks to look like.

This is my third and I'm still sleeping on my belly, but its bigger than it has been w/ the other two. I feel huge, but nobody has asked me if Im pregnant, so who knows Huh?

If I were you Id enjoy it. The huge stage is not fun and I'd hate to have one of those giant bellies for 5+ months. So uncomfortable!

  • why not just say to the lady "hey susie, you know that's funny, but, it makes me feel bad" pull the woe is me card & put it back on that dope.  SHE'LL be the one to feel like an idiot, not you to make you feel bad.
  • awwwww.  I feel for you.  I didn't show with my other two.. AT ALL...  which with my first (I was 18) wasn't a huge deal, with my second - something I longed for, and never achieved.. and now with my third... again, something I am really hoping for.  I have never had that belly, or anything even remotely close.

I have never bought maternity clothes... which seems ridiculous - seeing as this is the third human life that I have grown in my body.

This time around I have more of a belly than I did with the other two... but it is really not much to look at.  I have been able to sleep on my belly through all of my pregnancies... my friends that have seen my previous pathetic bellies have been "supportive" (if you can call it that) - and said things like "maybe you'll have a baby belly this time".

I was feeling kinda like I had a bit of a belly until my mother said to me yesterday "well you haven't even popped yet" - so I guess I just look like I have a gut ALL the time then?  :(

    I'd post a picture - but I don't know how... sorry.. I'm a newbie....

I'm with you, I get the same comments all.the.time!!  I even asked my doctor about it.

I guess I'm just glad I'm not overly huge yet.

  • Check. I posted my belly pics yesterday-from my 1st pregnancy and this one. I'm about 1/2 the size this time-started off at the same weight as well. Right now I just look like I may have 5 lbs left over from my 1st pregnancy and I get the "you're so tiny!" comments when I tell people I'm 19 weeks. I got a few of those with my first pregnancy as well around 22 weeks, but I had a far bigger bump with that pregancy than I do now.

Personally, I just say "thanks" and move on. I guess I would rather be told I look tiny than huge....

  • All of the above.... ugh. I just want to tell people to mind their own business at times. I work with 4 other women who are very pregnant looking and was told if I valued my life I shouldn't go stand next to them because they might kill me. I want to tell them even if you don't see it, I do! Ugh but some days I just feel fat.
