How should I increase the volume

So I picked up LO (she'll be 13 weeks on Friday and weighs about 12 lbs) yesterday at daycare and was told that she was 'mad' after the third bottle ran out, they recommend that I increase the amount.  I've been currently giving daycare three 4 oz bottles (Monday I posted a msg about having a difficult time pumping at work) so having to increase the amount is stressing me out since I'm barely getting what I need now.

Someone recommended supplementing with formula but I realize the supply and demand of BM and wonder if I add another pumping time would that help, as I'm dipping into my frozen reserved BM daily.  LO has been sleeping through the midnight feeding, so I dropped that one.  Do any of you pump during the night even if LO isn't nursing at that time?  I've been only pumping at work and after the two evening feedings.  Her schedule has been 3 am, 6 am, 9 am, 12, 3 pm, 6 pm and 9 pm for the most part.  Do you think it's necessary to add a midnight pumping session or increase the pumping time from 15 minutes to say 20 minutes?

Re: How should I increase the volume

  • Could you pump in the morning before work rather than at midnight?  That's always when I get the most-after the most sleep.

I get 3-4 oz. per boob (or more) in the morning, but only 1-2 oz. per at night (if that).
Ok, I guess that's my problem.  I was expecting to get around the same amount from each pumping session.
