My dr said my baby need carnation instant brkfst 3x a day, but he won't drink it! He does not appear underweight at all, and eats like every other child. Some days he barely touches food, but then others he's a pitbull on a steak. His head circumfrence is fine, and height average. I don't how else to pack on the pounds w/o introducing twinkies and ho-ho's.
Re: how much does your 15 mo old weigh?
DD was 23lbs at 15mo. I believe that is 50%, but since DD had been 60% at 12mo and 80-85% every appt before that (and she's tall), so she wasn't getting quite as much to eat as she should. the pedi suggested I try to add more fat to her diet - avocados, olive oil, butter, cheese, full-fat yogurt are the ones I remember. I also added some Next Step toddler formula to some of her food, like cereal or mashed potatoes.
DS is 22 or 23 lbs..I think those charts are a bunch of malarkey if you ask me. It really just depends on how your child is built.
But since you asked for advice on packing on pounds..my DS loves avacados and lots of dairy. Also you might try giving him some whole wheat pasta, or some other kind of carbs if you aren't giving him alot of carbs.
But honestly, if he looks just fine, and acts just fine, he probably is. why stress over it?
At 15 months Kate was 26 lbs and change. At 18 months she is 29 lbs 6 oz. She's 94% for weight, off the chart for height and head.
Try roasting his veggies in olive oil, cheese, avocados, smoothies, etc. to add calories.
dd was 18 lb at 15 m... 19lb at 18m... 21 lb at 2yr.
she stayed around 1st to 3rd percentile from 10m til a 2 1/2 yr visit where she bumped up to 8th percentile. she had labs done a few times, a sweat test completed, a nutritional consult including a calorie count... all normal.. she's just tiny.(she had all of this done b/c she dropped in percentiles she was 50th at 4m.. then lower at 6, then 10th I think at 9 m... her birthwt was 5lb 8oz... so she started out at the bottom of the percentile chart...I think I overfed her early on.. lol
)
ds was 19lb 3oz at 12m and I would expect him to be 20 lb by now... he feels heavier anyway. We'll see next month.
At 12 months, DD was 18 pounds. At 15 months she was 20 pounds. At 18 months was was 21 pounds. She's always been in the 8-15% percentile for weight and the pedi has never told us to feed her more or beef her up. That's just what her body is.
Unless he's fall WAY down on the growth chart, I wouldn't worry about it.
