Im going back to work in 3 weeks, we've tried the bottle with little success... Today she only took about an ounce in about 30 minutes... playing with the nipple, crying... What should we do???? We were using the nuk bottles because thats the pacifier type that she takes to... I really dont want the child care teachers to be fighting with her to eat...
Re: What to do if LO only takes 1 oz from bottle?
Who gave the bottle? Bf babies generally do not take a bottle well from Mom and sometimes will not take a bottle if Mom is anywhere nearby.
Sometimes it helps to turn the baby away, almost sitting up facing away from you to give a bottle. My DS will only take an Avent bottle with a #1 nipple.
Ive found with one of my guys, he needs a natural shaped nipple for eating and his Nuk for his paci. Not sure why, but he doesn't eat well from ortho nipples. Maybe try a Playtex, Avent or BreastFlow.
Good luck!
My LO had a really long bottle strike (8 weeks refusing). The milk had to be very warm for her. Like if I just pumped, it needed to be warmed up. I was actually the first person she took a bottle for, she refused for everyone else.
Persistence is key. Hang in there and eventually they will take it.
