I didn't understand why women do this last time around and I still don't this time. Why not just buy a couple pairs of maternity pants that are comfortable rather than torture yourself with uncomfortable bands or squeezing into reg pants? I mean, you're going to have to buy them eventually....why not get more use out of them and start wearing them earlier? With my son, I bought my first pair of nice maternity work pants at 8 weeks. My life was so much better bc my bloat wasn't being compressed and I never had to mess with zippers or bands, or anything like that. I slowly added on to my wardrobe as I progressed.
Is there a reason why women do this? Enlighten me!! ![]()
Re: ? re bellabands, rubberbands, "squeezing in" to reg clothes
1) i don't think my band is uncomfortable at all. it's actually very nice to have the support around my belly
2) i have several friends that never wore maternity pants. jeans+bands, or stretchy spandex (leggings are IN right now..take advantage!). i'm going to hold out and not get them if i don't have to.
Speaking as someone who has no living children, but has had nothing but losses, buying maternity clothes is a BIG deal. Buying them, maybe even wearing them, and then having to pack them away when your child dies is an emotional bomb. That's why I'm still "squeezing in" to my regular clothes.
Well, that and my jeans have a lot of lycra in them anyway.

I'm in full on maternity with this one because my bellyband from DS is MIA. I wore it with him the entire pg though. I actually only had 2-3 pairs of maternity pants with him. I wore my pre-pg work pants all the time. A word of warning though, I wore them so long with the belly band and put so much pressure on the unzipped zipper, that when I went back to work PP, they wouldn't stay zipped. I essentially ruined my work pants by wearing them my entire pg. Idiot!
I do need to get another band though. It would make those days when maternity pants still feel frumpy a lot easier.

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
This! I just bought my belly band, and my regular clothes fit for now, but I figure I don't want to limit my wardrobe to just what I can afford in maternity clothes! I would be wearing the same 5 or 6 outfits over and over again. That would get really old.
I know it's silly, but I feel like it's jinx-y to buy maternity clothes too early. Though I did cave and order a shirt online because I loved it so much. I'm also hoping not to have to buy any summer maternity clothes. Hopefully when I really start to show, I can get away with just buying fall stuff.
I used the elastic trick on the weekend. I didn't find it uncomfortable, but annoying when I had to unwrap the thing to pee 700 times in one night. Can't wait for my BellaBands to come in!
