I'm packing up and getting ready to leave for the weekend and realized that I'm not bringing much food. 90% of what I am bringing is alcohol, I'm afraid there might be puking involved (on my part) this weekend. 2 huge bottles of champagne, 1 bottle of vodka, 1 bottle of rum....who do I think I am? LOL My poor liver.

This was me on my girl's weekend last week! Just make sure you put the ingredients for my magic hangover cure elixer in there - bottles of Gatorade and a box of Alka Seltzer. Put a packet of alka seltzer in a bottle, let it dizzolve, then drink. Not tasty, but you'll be back to normal in no time!

I am kind of wishing that I had instituted a rule on the Seattle Bumpies FB page that to be approved, you have to actually post on the board -- or at least have posted reguarly in the past. I'm not overtly thrilled to get people signing up who have never even posted on here (and then don't post at all over there) and having access to all of our actual names and locations, given the AEs/weirdness around here as of late.
Boot 'em!
Totally. I can see lurking over here, gaining information from the discussions on parenting, local resources, etc., but I don't feel the same about lurking on the FB page. It's a social networking site. If you're not going to, well, be social or network, then WTF are you doing on that page? If you want to passively watch something happen, sign up for Netflix.
All of this! To be honest I was thinking the same thing, Jaxy. I saw the huge list of names and thought..."I know there are not that many that post on a regular basis."

NO! The store I went to in Idaho didn't have a great selection of flavored stuff. I did get Watermelon Vodka, and Black Cherry rum.

new one- my friend just posted a FB status update about how she's excited to go away with her boyfriend to a music festival and she's excited about a "jazz filled weekend." But I read it as "a jizz filled weekend" and I choked and now I have coffee coming out of my nose.

FFC... my husband has been gone for 8 days. My mother has had my kids while I've worked. This is my first day with them and I'm pretty sure it is going to take a good two weeks of "mean mommy" to get the rules reinstated around here. She and I could not be more different in parenting styles if we tried. Yesterday's food consisted of McDonalds and grilled cheese, no vegetables, a few grapes, cookies, popsicles, and eggo waffles. And all Liam is doing right now if whining at me.

I say this could be the new "policy".... someone new wants to join, they tell you their bump name. Jaxy posts their bump name on the FB site and if 5 people don't "vouch" for them, they can't be added. And if there are people already on the list that you don't know, post their names and let's see if they can be verified by any of the people we do know, and if not, boot them. I think that's a really good privacy idea.

Right now, I can tell who the people are who are "vouchable" based on how many mutual friends we have. There are a few Bumpies I don't know personally but we have, say 11 mutual friends (reputable longtime Bumpies in most cases) ... that is one thing. Someone who never posts on here and has zero mutual friends is the person who is going to be cut until we know who they are.
For those wanting to join from now on, if I do not know their Bump name offhand, I will post their name to the board to see if people know them. Good idea, Jill.

I just checked out at the craft store today and listened to the cashier talk. I could not understand a single word she said! I know it was something about some sort of volunteering she does that she is apparently very passionate about, has been doing for 23 years now and some of the kids are probably in HS or college now. Usually I can make out a little bit, but this was pretty bad. It was all jibberish and hand motions.
This morning Maeve was standing next to one of her newborn pictures and I thought to myself - Wow who would have thought that such an unfortunate looking newborn would grow up to be such an adorable toddler.
I love my kid and think she's gorgeous but man she was not a cute newborn.
My parents felt the same way about me.
Love: 8/2000 | Marriage: 7/2005 | Baby makes three: 3/28/2007 | And one more makes...SIX?
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
I love the one sneak peek Amy sent of the boudoir session last week and it was a good reminder that even though I?m 36 and a size 16, I do look good and I should make more of an effort to look my best everyday. And that I need to stop putting myself down. And I should wear thigh-highs more often.
Agree with it all!

I HATE Uggs on adults (I think they are cute for little kids) and terry/velour track suits. I dont think that either should be worn in public no matter how much you spent on it.
Say WHA?? Uggs can go either way, but no love for Juicy??

I don't know how many of you saw the breaking news on King 5 this morning about the fatlity in Buckley. I found out this afternoon it was my brother's best friend My heart is broken for his family and my brother. I went over to see my brother and I walked up the stairs and heard him bawling and I hid out in the bathroom until I could pull myself together enough to attempt to talk to him. I want so badly to comfort him, but I can't keep it together myself. I feel like a crummy sister

Ohh and on a not so sad note I'm so tempted to buy tickets to see Hanson at the Show Box in Sept. I loved them when they came out in 1997 and have seen them in concert many times before. DH laughed, but said he'd go with me if I really want to get tickets and couldn't find a friend to go with. My parents offered to watch the kids if we wanted to go.

How awful! I'm so sorry to hear this. You're not a crummy sister - you just have feelings, too. I think it would have been worse if you weren't sad about it. T&P to your family and your brother's best friend's family.
My best Seattle friend has extra tickets to see the Avett Brothers (who I love, love) down in Salem tomorrow night, which is 20 minutes away from my college BF's house. I almost never to go concerts because my weirdo husband doesn't like them. However, I'm not going because I'm heading to a baby shower and trying to get E to nap again tomorrow. It makes me feel like an old, boring mom.

I secretly can't wait to get pg again just to meet new Mom friends and have friends with kids to hang out with again.
In Australia 90% of my Mom friends work fulltime so there is no one to hang out with on days off/vacation time and it gets so boring
I guess I'm done since I am facebook-blocked at work...
