F/U to those who gave me advice on the Lockbox situation

Hello my good advice giving ladies!

So, Friday, as soon as DH got home, I told him we needed to talk. I explained what I did and he was so sweet about the whole thing.

Turns out, the box contains a document from his past (that I knew existed) that I had told him when we got married to keep away from me because I never ever ever wanted to see it. So, he kept it away in this box. And, it also contained some cash that he started saving when we found out I was pregnant. He said he meant to tell me about that but totally forgot, and he said that we need to have cash on hand because everyone does, and that's what was in the box! That's it! I didn't look in the box, even though he said I could. I believe him.

I felt so bad about snooping, and he asked me to be honest about why I did it, and I was honest- I was really just curious and bored. He accepted the answer but said if I had any worries, I should tell him so we could work through it. I cried lots and lots, because I just felt happy that I can trust him. And he totally wasn't mad!

Yay for honesty!

  • Aww, that's really great. I'm glad you guys were able to talk about it and handle the situation. What a great feeling that must be for you to know you can both trust each other. That is so very important.

  • Aw I am so glad you confronted it and could put your mind at ease! Honestly is always best but sometimes we get so worried and caught up in things that we forget how good it feels to just tell the truth.

S/N - He might want to find another place for the cash stash. The desk and that lockbox in particular will be one of the first things a robber will look for and take. I speak from experience as our house was robbed 2 years ago. The office and bathrooms (looking for pills) were the rooms that were targeted and trashed the most.

  • Happy to read the outcome! I'm sure you slept much better after having the conversation (or as well as you can sleep at this stage)

  • Yes

Good for you guys. Honesty's always the best policy in my book. And I thought that was cute that he's stashing cash for baby.

  • I was opening another post when I read the title and backed out of the other post really quick to read this!! HAHA. I am glad things turned out great. What a great daddy, saving money for the babe!! Also, there are things that my husband has had, not purposely, from his past that I told him to hide if he wanted to keep them because I didn't want to see them in my house. He too has been great about things like that.
