Me too!  LO takes most of her bottles at daycare so I'm going to ask them if she's been having any issues.

  • If your LO is EBF you may not want to switch nipple sizes. Sometimes the faster flow makes it so easy for LO to eat out of a bottle that they prefer it over the breast.

  • DS was fussing at the bottle a lot and it seemed like he was struggling to get anything out of it. If I pulled on the bottle a little while he was eating, it felt like it was stuck on a vacuum, that's how hard he was sucking.

I just switched out the nipples one night. He chugged the bottle down in just a few minutes with no struggling, he didn't really dribble at all and he didn't choke on it. He's been on medium flow for about two weeks now.

Basically, if it seems like they're struggling to get enough out... try it. If the flow is too fast, they'll have milk pouring out of their mouth from trying to keep up, or they'll gag on it a little. If that happens, just go back down a step.

  • i just switched this week.  she was getting really fussy at the bottle and it was taking her forever to finish.

  • We assumed DD was ready when she started playing with the level 1 nipple, rather than latching on.   When we bought the level 2, she started eating normally again (yay!).
