Yesterday, dd had her 1st bites of solid food. Today, I tried to give them to her again, and she just didn't seem interested. She had maybe two bites, and then she was kind of thrusting it out; so I stopped. I'm wondering if I should wait a few days, a week, or longer until I try to give her food again. If you have/had a 6 mo. old that wasn't ready, what were the signs? I'm also thinking that she was thrusting it out because it's new to her.
Re: Anyone else's 6 mo. old NOT ready for solids?
Yeah, it took him about a week to get it. He'd spit it out. We'd just try again the next day and little by little he would swallow more and more of it!
You can also try a different food. He wasn't too keen on the rice cereal but gobbled up the peas!
This exactly. DS took about 4-6 days of "eating" before any food actually went down to his stomach. Also, we only did like 3-4 days of cereal, and then moved to sweet potatoes and banana.
DD has been regularly opening her mouth for the spoon and taking whole bites since 5 months. DS has no interest. Once a week I sit him in the highchair and try again. But he is still doing a lot of tongue thrusting.
Seeing how readily DD opened her mouth when she was ready, I know DS isn't and I'm not worried. When he wants more than the bottle he'll take the spoon. It's not hurting him to not take solids at 6 months.
Now if I'm still having this issue at 7 months and beyond, I'll worry more.
Whhhaaa?
DS will gladly take her avacado. He thinks it's the best!
Try some sweet potato. Or apples. Or peas. DS Luuuuurves his peas.
