DS is a terrible sleeper. I put him down for a nap this morning and he slept for 1 hour. That is very rare. I just put him down for another nap and am crossing my fingers. I was wondering. Do you put DC on their back or tummy at night? At what age did you stop being so paranoid? (DS can lift and turn his head so that makes me feel a little better) How do you cover them with a blanket?
Re: Mommies of tummy sleepers come in
Right now I only put her on her tummy for a nap if she's where I can see her...usually on a blanket in the living room.
With DS...I think he was rolling before I put him on tummy for the night.
DS has been a tummy sleeper for a few months now. he had awesome neck control so that did help. i did end up picking up breathable bumpers because DS would squirm up to corner of the crib and that made me nervous. also, i would suggest skipping blankets and maybe do a blanket sleeper instead...
if you are super nervous, you can always get something like the angelcare monitor. it would have never worked because DS moves all around the crib and would end up off the sensor for sure, but it might work for you...
DS started NAPPING on his tummy (in the same room as me where I could watch him) when he was about 3 months. I didn't start letting him tummy sleep all the time until a couple of weeks ago ... and now he's rolling over anyway so it doesn't really make a difference to him. We don't use a blanket, he just wears jammies.
We also had a lot of luck with a Miracle Blanket and a swing when he was 1 - 3 months old and did most of his night sleeping like that.
