no cutesy little newborn to dress up for Halloween this year.
no baby to pass around at Thanksgiving.
no new little family member to get presents under the Christmas Tree.
Our poor little newbie will miss all of those fun holidays! There aren't any good holidays close after his/her birth! Is 4th of July really the closest fun one? Not that I'm ungrateful for having a Jan baby but these are the things I will miss out on!
Anything that makes Jan your less than favorite to have a baby? Not to mention driving to the hospital when I'm in labor through sleet and snow! Yikes!

Valentines day! I am actually excited that LO will be old enough during Halloween/ Thanksgiving/ Christmas to be a fun baby and not just a lumpy newborn lol
I totally feel the opposite! My DD is a Feb baby and these are the things I love
Belly pics in front of the tree
Having a 9 month old to dress up for Halloween instead of a floppy newborn, I had a baby who could sit up and laugh and I could dress in a super cute bellerina costume
Having lost all my baby weight by thanksgiving so I didn't feel guilty pigging out.
And, living inSoFla, NOT being hugely pregnant in the summer.
By the time I'm 2-3 months from delivering I can't hardly eat anything. Baby is squishing up my stomach and I can only eat small amounts of food. I have a feeling I will be missing out on a lot of good holiday food.
Geeze I am so pessimistic! slap some positivity into me!!! LOL
Oooh! All really good points! I think having a Jan baby will be a great pick-me-up after the Holiday slump. I know I get depressed right after the Holiday (whaaat? not another day off until Memorial Day??), so...a Birthday every year to celebrate right after the Holiday's should be a good thing! My DS was born in October, and we were in such a sleep deprivation fog...we couldn't have told you if it were Thanksgiving or Flag Day. Lol.

geeze, holy duplicates.. sorry
But you could buy all those cute outfits on clearance this year to use next year!! I figure I don't need to drive during the worst part of winter this way. I am looking forward to that!
Aside from the fact that I live in Northern Canada so the heat thing doesn't factor in, I agree with the rest of this! The one thing I'm not looking forward too is decorating for Christmas while 8 months pregnant. It may or may not happen because it's just too awkward!
In regards to that comment about food, that is something I'm not looking forward too. I couldn't eat hardly anything by that point and so Christmas supper consisted of little portions of everything I don't even think I finished that.

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
I'm excited to have a January baby! First, like some PPs mentioned, the baby will be at a more "fun" age to dress up for Halloween and to enjoy his/her first Christmas. Also, it will be nice to have one more Christmas with just DS before his sibling arrives (assuming the baby isn't born a month early, which I hope he/she isn't!) January has always been one of my least favorite months since the holidays are over but it isn't spring yet - it's just kind of cold and gray, and I'm always ready for spring when January rolls around, so it will be nice to have something fun going on during that month from now on!
As for fun holidays soon after the baby is born, Easter would be a chance to dress him/her in a cute new outfit - think of the cute Spring pics you can take of the new baby and your DD!
Really, I'm just feeling blessed to be pregnant and due at anytime.
I agree also with the ideas about the baby being old enough to sort of 'enjoy' those holidays that they won't be around for this fall/winter. The first Christmas will be a lot of fun.

I think the best thing is that time flies around the holidays and that will make those grueling last 10 weeks of pregnancy not seem so slow.
I agree with all of this but especially the bolded part.

the rest of it I didn't really care about... but this? just bummed me out. you're totally right. Christmas is going to be so sad when I can only eat about four bites before feeling like a stuffed turkey. ugh...
I just don't like that I'm in Minnesota and I already see it - record blizzard and ice when I go into labor LOL
It will also be hard to go for walks and will have to stick with a mall or something indoors which sucks....
This will be my second January baby, provided this one doesn't make an early appearance. (EDD Jan. 2.)
I actually LOVE the idea of another January baby. I'm excited to be able to enjoy one final round of holidays without suffering from exhaustion. I loved the fact that DD#1 was old enough to sort of get what was happening during her first Christmas. I love that I don't have to travel for Christmas or Thanksgiving this year... everyone has to come to me! ha! Indoor walks at the mall were awesome! I am not a shopper at all, and normally avoid the mall, but I loved hitting it up with DD#1. It was less stressful for me than worrying about how to keep a newborn out of the sun.
I guess I have a different perspective than lots of people, but honestly, having a winter baby was pretty awesome. Then again, DH and I were crazy enough to get married in January in Wisconsin, so maybe we are just nuts.
THIS. Plus, I won't have to shovel snow this year. How awesome is that?

After dealing with infertility for two years and losing three babies since November, I am thrilled just to be pregnant without any complications (knock on wood). I couldn't care less when LO is due. I will take whatever I can get.
Here's a positive way to think of it as well...You will get most of the sleepless nights out of the way during the winter when there is very little to do, and by the time it is nice out and you want to be active, LO will be old enough to do fun outdoor stuff with.

Honestly, I'm just blessed to be pregnant. At first I thought I'd be upset with a due date so close to Christmas, but really, who cares.
What I LOVE about my due date is that it's not going to be 100 degrees outside. It is so hot outside right now, I can't imagine being huge at this time.
I'll get to dress my baby in all those snuggly winter clothes.
I'll have time to lose the weight for the summer.
My baby will be about 10 months old for Halloween, 11 months old for Thanksgiving, and 1 year old for Christmas. I'll take those ages for the holidays.
I'm not too excited about having to meet two separate year deductibles for insurance
Aside from that, I thought for a second that it stunk to not have a LO at Christmas but I know that our LO will be almost 1 year old by next Christmas which means he/she will be able to enjoy it much more than if they were still swaddled and sleepy.
After our m/c last winter and having thought we'd have a LO this July, I have to remind myself that there is a reason for everything and a silver lining.
Oh, and I already have Easter bibs purchased
And am I the only one who has thought about all of the sales after Christmas for LO's birthdays?
See, I'm excited because it means getting to wear an awesome Halloween costume. Pregnant nun anyone?
Also, just think...this time next year, we'll have 6 month old babies to play with at the beach and on family vacations! I'd much rather have a baby at that stage than a newborn to take to my family's lake house.
THIS!
Lurking from TTCAL -
Actually, it kinda sounds like you are. Suck it up. At least you're pregnant. There are too many people who aren't so privileged.
If you're looking closer you'll see that all my gripes surround around wanting my baby sooner! So obviously I'm grateful for my pregnancy if I'm wanting this baby sooner rather than later. I think it's silly that i feel that I have to defend myself in this post.
All of the other ladies have been helpful in throwing out positive things for me to look forward to.
This. I am just really thankful.
