I wasn't online this weekend much - and I just saw your post about your mom. I am sooooo glad that she was so receptive to you this time!! And to her "it's about time" comment - it's about time she start acting right! :P
How are you feeling? Any less stress? How is your DH doing, coming around any? I hope things really start to look up for you - and just remember - you were just TTC a month prior - so just keep telling yourself that you could have already been pregnant by now - and even though it wasn't "perfect timing", it's HERE! And it's going to be GREAT!

My first pregnancy they did an external but I was 8 weeks along. Since your 5 weeks Im excpecting they will do a transvaginal.

That's what I was worried about - my first transvaginal u/s was when I wasn't pregnant a few months ago and they ruined my insides. My OB said it looked like I got beat up inside - bruising, bleeding, my cervix was cut. This was done at one of the best Chicago hospitals!!! So I'm so scared they'll hurt the baby... bruise me, cut me, but don't jeopardize this delicate baby!

Yes, it was. It wasn't too bad, but of course my DH and I are 12 on the inside so we made all sorts of crude jokes (joystick...moodlighting...you get it)!
I would recommend going in with a super full bladder - just in case they want to try a regular u/s. If they opt for the transVag then they will just have you empty your bladder.
We got to see and hear the heartbeat at 6w1d - but the machine was not able to pick up the heartbeat enough to measure it to tell us how fast etc.
Good luck, and remember - even if they can't pick up the hb doesn't mean that your bean doesn't have one!!

WHOA! That should NOT be happening. My u/s tech was AMAZING and so gentle!! She had me insert the wand myself, and there wasn't a moment I felt uncomfortable or in any sort of pain - plus she put a condom over the wand - so it should NOT be cutting you. I'm not sure what effect this could have on the baby (considering you can still have normal "active" sex while pregnant)... Do you remember who the u/s tech you had last time was, or at least what he/she looked like? I would avoid him/her at ALL costs and specifically request someone with either more experience or more compassion, whichever was lacking before.
There is NO reason that ANY form of u/s should ever be hurtful. Akward - yes. So aggressive that you have marks/bleeding/cuts that your OB notices later on? NO WAY!
