Best breast pump for occasional use

Hello,

Can you please recommend your breast pump for occasional use?  I know the Medela PISA is very popular, but it seems this is more for EPers.  I am considering the Medela Swing, but would like to hear other suggestions.

I only plan to pump to build a supply and for the rare nights out.

TIA!

  • Right now I'm using the Philips Avent manual pump. I use it for building a small stash, and it gets good suction on it. Very easy to clean, easy to use, and I like the freezer ready storage containers that adapt to the pump. I've had two different mini electric pumps before (battery operated) and they sucked - or rather didn't. I also had a hospital grade rental with Medela parts, which was fantastic, but I was EP at the time. If you are just building a small stash I vote for the Avent manual.

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours double electric pump. The only reason we went with Ameda over Medela is because we were familiar with it from when we were in the hospital. We got it brand new on Ebay for a great price ($120) and it works great. I only use it occasionally now (while I am on maternity leave) but it will be easy to bring to work when I return in July. I highly recommend it!
