I think bumpies should be able to post a link to their etsy shops in their siggys. I don't have an etsy shop, but I love etsy and I don't get why it's such a big deal. I'm still waiting for someone to explain this rule to me. Putting a link in a siggy is not hounding anyone to buy anything. You can go to the link or ignore it. So there ya go!
I don't understand why women who stopped smoking for 9 months while they were pregnant would start smoking again after they have had the baby. If you quit for that long then why would you start back?

As an ex-smoker of 11 years I can tell you that after I had Max there were several moments when I craved (but didn't have) a cigarette. Several. And I quit two years before I had him, so go figure. Stress maybe?
I don't understand why women who stopped smoking for 9 months while they were pregnant would start smoking again after they have had the baby. If you quit for that long then why would you start back?
I know that seems illogical. But as a former smoker, I can tell you it's easier said than done.
When I was PG, the very thought of a cigarette made me want to ralph, so that 9 months was pretty easy for me as far as cravings go.
But after PG, with the stress of caring for a colicky newborn and with my body returning to "normal," the cravings came back in full force. I have managed to keep them at bay, but it is very difficult. Some days are better than others.

I agree with this. Though I suppose I can understand to some extent. One reason they might start up again is because they use it to help relieve stress and a new baby usually adds stress to your life & marriage. I can understand wanting to relieve stress.
ETA: What I don't understand is women who continue to smoke during pregnancy because they believe that all it does is cause lower birth weight. I'm not talking anyone on TB, I'm talking about someone who I know RL. She firmly believes that all it does is cause a lower birth weight, and even that she believes isn't really true because she said they can't prove it. I personally wouldn't want to take the risk of harming the child I'm carrying.
I hate the Toyota Prius. I hate the Smart Car. Why do all environmental friendly cars have to be ugly? I could get down with driving a "greener" car if it didn't look like a suppository.

In my opinion, it's a slippery slope. Yeah, there are us regs who could have link to our cute tiny Etsy shops. But if they allowed that, than any business or company can create a profile and link their business in their siggy. They can then spam the boards as they wish and nobody here wants that. So the TOS forbid any and all direct advertising to prevent this from happening. And it's not fair to us bumpies who respect the TOS for other bumpies to just ignore it and advertise their shops.
What bumpies can do is link to their blog, which then has a link to their shop, provided that their blog's content isn't used to just advertise their shop.

Totally agree! I think it would be great if we could support each other.
Mine's pretty tame, but it's unpopular on TB at least. There are many surnames that I actually like as first names for babies. First example off the top of my head: Parker. Cute boys name IMO.

the nicotine addiction is so strong. I haven't smoked in forever but if I smell one my craving is as bad as if I still smoked every day.

I'm just starting to follow this today as I've been pretty busy the last couple of days, so maybe I'm missing something from the story. But I don't think Anthony Weiner should have to resign. I think what he did was pretty stupid, but he didn't break the law.

I think the point of the Dr. Oz show is good, and he has some good information. HOwever, I also feel like he's an alarmist with the way he presents the information, and there are probably people out there that are convinced they're going to die from x,y,z in the next year because they heard about it on tv.
You're completely right.

I drive a Ford Escape Hybrid, it looks just like the regular escape but gets way better gas mileage.
I don't understand why the smart car even exists, I have a super long commute and would totally buy one and drive it to and from work if it was worth it, but it only gets like 30 mpg.

I agree. I also think people should live together before marriage. Sure it takes the "excitement" away, but you also find out whether you're truly compatible and it makes the first years a lot easier.

I wanted so badly to like the Prius. H got one for a rental and it was absolutely awful. Like driving a very large hollow tuna can.
And LOL at a suppository. We used to have an old Toyota minivan come through our pick-up line at school and that's what we called it.

True, they do make some hybrids that look like normal cars. I actually think it's a "greener" thing for me to do to buy a used "normal-looking" hybrid like the Escape rather than buy a brand new Prius. It takes more resources to make that new car; I am "recycling" by buying a used one.
I don't like dressing newborns in anything other than simple outfits like onesies and footed pajamas. The thought of putting them in pants and a shirt with a jacket makes me cringe. Too much stuff for such a little body. I have so many outfits DS never wore for this reason.

Not sure if this would be an UO but I am not comfy with being in a home with a recent trauma/death in it. DH is gung ho to get another home ASAP. This week there was a house fire in the neighborhood we want to be in, where the elderly owner died in the fire (cigarette accident). We could get an awesome price, and we''ve dealt with major renovations before so I could handle the repairs. But the very recent death is too creepy, I can't do it.
Edited to clarify a bit.

I know it's still several months away but I'm having a hard time getting excited about throwing a party for LO's birthday. I really wish we could just give LO a cupcake, take some pics, and be done with it but I know our families will be really disappointed. And then I feel like a crappy mom for not wanting to throw a party, lol.

I was a smoker as well but quit years before I had DD so I understand the cravings and wanting to release stress but I'm talking about the moms who buy a pack of cigarettes on their way to the hospital to have their child (yes, I had a friend who did this).
That is wonderful that you have not started back. That is definitely something to be proud of. The moms that don't even try to continue to not smoke and start back within days of having a child are the ones that get to me. And a cigarette here and there to relieve stress is different than smoking a pack a day.
Even though they don't smoke around their children and they can wash their hands as many times as they would like but the smoke is still in their hair and on their clothes.
P.S. GO MAVS!!

This and Rachel Ray. A couple friends and I were going to see Rachel's talk show. One friend just had to stop and get a cup of coffee on the way to the train, we missed the train and missed getting in by 2 minutes. Rachel Ray gave everyone in the audience 2 round trip tickets to Jamaica.
