I have a temporal scanner. It seemed to be fine when he was smaller, but now he's so wiggly that it doesn't seem effective. I can't imagine how he'd do with a rectal thermometer if he's this uncooperative with something just on his forehead.
So, what works best for you?
Re: What type of thermometer do you use, and where do you use it?
This exactly. My LO loves the cover too and doesn't even notice I am taking her temp for the most part.
This one seems pretty accurate and you don't have to swipe across the forehead, you just hold it there for just a few seconds.
Rectal temps are the most accurate for kids under 2-ish. We've got a rectal and an oral thermometer -- both CLEARLY marked. Hah. Haven't had to use either of them yet though.
