Baby Names

HELP, what girl names goes well with....

I'm trying to figure out a name that also goes well with my other kids names...

Hailey, Cailyn, and Logan

A boy would have been Ethan but I am stumped for girls.

They all have L's in their names and the girls both have "ai" should I try to find another ai with an L or ditch the ai and just keep the L.  This is a lot harder than I thought Please Help!!!

Oh and sometimes I wish I had named the girls with their middle names first Isabella and Grace since they are more traditional and would fit well as adult names so should I go out on a limb and give this child a more traditional name rather than cutesy or would it just not go?

Re: HELP, what girl names goes well with....

  • Laila? Alaina?  Personally I don't understand allowing yourself to be pigeon-holed into this sort of "theme" I say pick a name you like and ditch the "ai" and the "l" nonsense.

  • My best advice would be to pick a name you love and not try to continue with the trend you have going, unless it just so happens you love a name in that trend, kwim?

    Girl names you may like:

Brenna, Chelsea, Noelle, Maya, Thalia, Violet, Isla, Daphne, Sienna, Keira, Sabrina, Penelope (Penny), Jocelyn, Alyssa, Belle

Abigail is my first thought. It keeps the theme going without rhyming.

  • Your children's names don't need to "go." They are not a set of stemware. Think about you and your husband -- you weren't given "matching names" and yet people have no problem thinking of you as a matched set.

If you wish you gave your other children traditional names, this is your chance to rectify it with your new girl's name. A few traditional and beautiful girl's names that have the "L" and/or "N" sounds you like (and still sound contemporary enough to fit in) are:

     Odile
    Nora
    Adele
    Sylvia
    Opal
    Stella
    Alexa
    Elodie
    Alana
    Bianca
    Viola
    Melina
    Noelle
    Natalie

Wow Manderlin you picked a few names I've already been thinking: Brenna, Noelle, Sienna, and Belle or Bella

Other names I've been thinking are: Kinley, Brielle or Briella, Kendall, Lainey, Paige, Kaia or Kaila (pronounced Kii-ah or Kii-lah), Emma, Stella and more..

I don't have one name I just love except the girls middle names put together Isabella Grace and that would be so tacky!  Ahh naming a third girl will be harder than I imagined!

Out of the names you listed I like: Brielle, Paige and Stella. Emma is nice but so popular. Kinley and Lainey are very cutesy- what about Elaine, nn Lainey? Kaia or Kaila I really dislike. I think you have some good options, though.

My daughters would love to name the baby Abigail so we can call her Abby, that's what they name all their dolls.  Unfortunately it's one of my good friends daughter's name and our daughters are the same age and best friends now so I'm not sure I would want to use her name.  When I named all of my kids I didn't personally know anyone who shared their names!

I do like Stella, Alexa, and Noelle.  Noelle had actually been at the top of my list either as a first or middle name, it will probably be part of her name.  I have one winter baby and since that's my favorite time of year it makes it so much more magical to have a baby that time of year and Noelle reminds me of xmas my favorite holiday which may sound cheesy but I like the idea!

Actually I was telling my husband just the other day that we were meant for each other b/c of our names lol just being silly but we were born in 75 and 82 and the top boy/girl names both years were both our names. Mike and Jen : P Sorry just had to since I'm kind of a smart ass : ) My brother and I are were Kenny and Jenny which is way to matchy for my tastes.

  • Just out of curiosity do you think my DD's name Cailyn is cutesy?

  • Don't get stuck in a pattern! Ugh!  But try a one-syllable name, say all of your children's names together with a name like Brynn...Hailey, Cailyn, Logan & Brynn.  They sound so beautiful together! Just a thought!
