Just wondering what you are all reading right now and what you like.
I'll start. I'm reading a book called The Seventeen Second Miracle. I was just told today about The Help, and a coworker is bringing it to me. I have a huge shelf of "to reads," containing The Girl Who Played With Fire, several more Jodi Picoult books, and my guilty pleasure, the True Blood Sookie Stackhouse novels.
Re: GTKY post (NBR)- What book are you reading right now?
I was thinking about starting the same post! I love to read...I'm a total book nerd
Currently I'm reading Water for Elephants. I LOVED The Help and can't wait for the movie this summer. The Girl Who Played With Fire was my favorite out of the 3 books. As for Jodi Picoult, I tried her new book but couldn't get past the 1st 10%. It was too hard to read being pregnant.
I would love to hear what others are reading! Always looking for new books.
Loved Water for Elephants and The Help too! I am currently reading The Girl Who Played With Fire and enjoying it.
I just finished the new Picoult and it was a bit hard at the start b/c of the baby stuff but had an interesting twist that is worth reading the book for and a great ending.
I loved "The Girl' series! The first book took a while to get into, and then suddenly you cannot put it down! Sookie Stackhouse books are crack!
I'm currently reading Brideshead Revisited...

The book was actually our book club book for last month, so I've heard the ending. It does sound good, though, and I will probably read it all soon.
On a side not, is anyone a fellow kindle user? I heard they are linking to national libraries by the end of the year. YAY for borrowing books!
All baby related: Feeding Baby Green and Happiest Baby on the Block.
And then just because: Love & Respect.
I am currently reading the new Sookie. Yes, they are getting old, but I still like them. I've read most of the books mentioned except The Help. I love to read. It's my favorite thing to do besides sleeping and cuddling my dog
I use a Kindle and my hubby is a little pirate so I haven't paid for a book in years (that is so awful, I know, but it really saves me money because I read really quickly).
I have the book _Raising Baby Green_
Wonder if they are a part of the same series. I really like it, BTW.
I LOVED Water for Elephants - I haven't seen the movie yet because I'm afraid it will ruin the book, that's how much I enjoyed it!
OP, forget your shelf of "to reads" and read The Help next! It is great!
I'm currently reading West with the Night by Beryl Markham who lived in Kenya in the 30's. Her writing is incredible and really shows what a lost art it has become.
Right now I am reading "The Girl That Played With Fire" but you have to read "The Girl WIth the Dragon Tattoo" first and then the final one is "The Girl That Kicked The Hornets Nest". The first few chapters of the first book are a bit slow and boring but seriously stick with it and it gets great! I am 1/2 way through the 2nd book and its only been 2 days! I love them!
The Help is also wonderful. Read that last year and I loved it. They made it into a movie that will be out in Aug I think. I always suggest reading the books first.
I also loved Water for Elephants. We read that a couple months ago in bookclub. We had our meeting the day before the movie came out (good timing right - since we picked the dates and books a year ago). So we all went to see the movie the next day. I usually am disappointed with the movies after reading the books so I didnt have high expectations. The movie was good but I would definitely recommend waiting a bit if you JUST read it. I noticed every little thing that was wrong. Didnt ruin the book but I felt like I couldnt enjoy the movie. All I kept telling DH was "nope thats not right" haha.
I'm reading Full of Life by Nancy O'Dell (my first pregnancy/baby book) and East of Eden for my book club.
Up next for Baby books is Ina May's guide to childbirth.
I'm reading the Green Rider Series. I love strong female characters.
I have read almost everything everyone has posted- I'm a big reader. I actually did not like the Hunger Games or The Girl Who Kicked.... very much. But I loved WFE and Eat Pray Love.
Baby Turtle - November 2014
I just finished Water for Elephants and I enjoyed the book, it was a quick and easy read.
I haven't started anything else yet, haven't made it to the library to look for anything yet. However, I am thinking that I want to read Memoirs of a Geisha.
Plus, I am looking for suggestions for some summer beach reading...so, if you have any, please let me know.
I just finished Suzane's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson. Great book but went through a ton of tissues while reading it... not recommended for a pregnant woman, just sayin'.
Now I'm reading Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. I loved the movie and finally got my hands on the book.
What book did you read? I love Patricia Cornwell (mainly the Scarpetta series) I had all the books but DH has been slacking on buying them lately so I think I am missing one. I even have an original copy of the Ruth Bell Graham story and a couple that are in French. I think I have to buy her childrens book Life's Little Fable for the LO.
I was worried about this too because it was such a wonderful book but I thought the movie did a good job. It was nostalgic and I felt like I had seen parts of the movie before because of the way they were so vividly described in the book.
I think you will like it jjswife!
I'd call the Girl w/ The Dragon Tattoo et al good beach reads. If you have a lot of time, and like long books, I also recommend James Michener. I like to take him when I travel because his books are so long, I only have to take one, even for a long trip! My favorites are Chesapeake and Hawaii.
Fallen by Lauren Kate. I think it's more meant for teens (think Twilight) but it's pretty good so far. It's about a girl in a reform boarding school and she doesn't know how her boyfriend died, they were at a vacation house together when there was a fire.
I also just downloaded Water for Elephants.
I loved the Help and Water for Elephants and the Dragon Tattoo series! I actually haven't read any really good books since the Dragon Tattoo books.
I'm reading Bossypants by Tina Fey now. Its pretty funny.
I love the Outlander Series... " A Breath of Snow and Ashes" is next on my list but I have been reading them all in a row for months so I am taking a break for awhile...great series though!!
I am reading the Island by Eiln Hildenbrand now.
I'm OBSESSED with Twilight and I'm 27. Don't judge.
