I'm asking because I met a female Austin recently. I'd never heard it as a girl's name. I'm pretty indifferent, though. I don't really love or hate it.
I don't love it or like it, nor do I hate it though because my niece is named Austin. I tolerate it because my sister-in-law (my niece's mom) passed away shortly after Austin was born so it's her one living legacy that she gave.

My name was Austin for a few days of my life and then my parents decided to switch it to an even more boy name, Bobi. I wish they would have stuck with Austin, honestly.

Those were my exact words when I read the post.
IMHO, it is a boy's name only, but I have known a few female Austens (after Jane Austen) IRL, and I can at least follow that logic.
The little girl I know is Austen.
