Weed is ok...crack in moderation (no more than once a day), and heroin should only be a special treat. But for goodness sakes, coffee and hot dogs are really bad and should be avoided at all costs.

Well I cant help but feel offended that you would say, "I doubt your buddies who smoke marijuana are smoking legal, medical grade marijuana." Im not sure if you are accusing me of lying, or having shady friends. If you would like more details: I have older family friends who use marijuana for chemo from bone cancer, one that uses it for a petuitary tumor, etc.

So thanks for making me feel great.

I wonder how it affected their pregnancy weight gain. On the one hand, you'd have insane munchies with 70 joints a day, on the other most potheads I know are super skinny.

Allow me to throw something out there without being condemned for saying it, but my boyfriend's sister is eight months pregnant and has been told by not one, but two different OB-GYN's that it is okay to smoke marijuana while pregnant. It helps her with her morning sickness and so far, there has been no signs of any problems with her baby. Am I saying I will go out and smoke a joint right now? Not necessarily. But I just wanted to point out that if multiple specialists are condoning the act, then there really can't be that much harm. There are no scientific studies to show marijuana causes any birth defects, and for those studies that got results, the parents were also drinking and/or doing other drugs. If someone can give me concrete evidence of what will happen to baby while smoking, then if the shoe fits...

Personally, I think personal possession of weed should be legalized and then subject to the same sort of controls as alcohol usage. It would help alleviate our border problems with drugs and lighten the load on our jails.

However, I think we lack research on what harm a lot of things can do for a pregnant woman, and so a lack of research showing harm - and one study showing a lack of harm - doesn't make me want to run out and do something myself.

Heck, I've been trying to find out if it's safe to get my nails done or get a fake tan for the summer or highlight my hair and the answers I find essentially boil down to "Well, it might be OK, but nobody really knows." I don't think we should be paralyzed by fear, but I don't want to take any unnecessary risks. I think eating lunch meat or drinking a glass of wine once a week or smoking the *occasional* joint is a personal choice and that doing any of those things don't mean you're a bad mother. But I'm sure not going to be smoking up during my pregnancy or when I'm BF...

I would definitely question my Dr if they told me this. I'd get a new dr. Quick.

So since I know this post is old and no one is going to read it, I am just going to vent for a second. There is this *** on the Jan board who for some reason HAS to disagree with EVERYTHING I say. I don't care if you have different view points from me but seriously it's everything. In fact I think she probably does agree with me on some things but she refuses to give in and agree that something I say is actually right! She's a freaking Lunatic and I can't stand her. I just want her to go away, she is useless to the board anyway and is not helpful. That is unless you call disagreeing with everyone helpful. GO AWAY ***.

Just fyi - many of us have this board set to "last post date" instead of "original post date," so anytime someone posts on any thread, it gets bumped to the top of the board, even if it's seven months old. In other words, a lot of people are going to read this.
