Kick counts etc...

Hey everyone! Hope you are having a great week so far.

I just had a question. When should you be worried about less-frequent kicking from your LO? I just haven't been feeling him much today and I am a little worried. I did just take a long nap, so maybe he was more active while I was asleep(I can be a pretty heavy sleeper I guess) or something. Am I overreacting? I guess I could just call the doctor to make sure...

 Thank you for reading this!

  • Drink some juice and lay on your left side - that should get him moving around.

Ice cold items, like ice cold water or a cold popsicle really work to get my baby moving (much more than sweet items).

Try something cold too and see what happens.

My OB said not to worry about the 10 movements in 1-2 hours unless they ask  you to do this. She said it is more important that they are moving at their "regular" time (do you notice certain times yet that he moves???)

Should he still not move after the sweet/cold stuff, I would call (but that is just me).

    GL!

  • My dr said as long as I was feeling some movement throughout the day not to worry. LO still goes through sleep phases where I won't feel her for 3-4 hours. I've also noticed that if I watch my belly I can see it move (from her) when I'm not feeling things which could help as well.

When I start to get paranoid I'll just lay down on my left side, give her a small poke, then roll over onto my right side. Normally that will get her to shift a bit so I get some reassurance that all is well. Also, and I know how stupid/silly this may sound, sometimes I just have to lift my shirt up so my skin is exposed to the light and it will make her turn away from the light and give me some reassuring movement.
