Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Piggy Paint?

Im sure this has been asked before, maybe not? My sisters are bugging me to paint my daughters nails, shes 16 months old. The only polish that comes up when I search something that is safe for toddlers is Piggy Paint. Has anyone used this on their children? Im not a big fan of polish on little ones but It wont bother me if its not being used everyday. Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't do it as long as she is putting her fingers in her mouth. Even though it says it's non-toxic, it still has chemicals in it, and you never know what they might find in those chemicals later on. For instance, at one point we didn't know that lead or VOC's in paint were toxic but now we do. It seems like that paint is more for children than toddlers, b/c they don't put their fingers in their mouth constantly. JMO

  • I agree with meg1974. Even if the paint says it's non-toxic, it is still a chemical and so long as LO is still chewing on fingers and toes (and she just rediscovered her toes...) I won't paint her nails.
  • My local co-op group bought Piggy paint, it was ok.  It honestly lasts about 3-4 hours and rubs off.  I had bought some for myself and with all my hand washing and house work, it was gone in a snap.  I know lots of friends that love it and use it all the time on their LOs. HTH
