In responding to all of the labor posts lately I have been saying Good Luck, but I dont really think this is appropriate. I have also felt this way when wishing family and friends in labor "good luck." I feel that while you are wishing something positive on the person (good luck) it has a slight negative connotation as well (that the person might need luck). But I have not been able to come up with a more suitable response. So lets hear it ladies, you are all very creative and we are about to be the ones in labor...what alternatives can you come up with?
Re: Good luck?
I think 'congratulations' is fine, too. When someone says "good luck," I do have that fleeting thought..."good luck?" Like "Hope nothing bad happens!" lol.
Or something reassuring and positive: "You are going to be a Mom!" or "Let us know when your little bundle of joy arrives" and the classic "I'm so excited for you!"
I never really thought of it that way. It is better than saying "i hope you work hard and get what you want"?
I haven't got anything better to say either.
Heh, this made me giggle a little. But I agree.

This is what I was going to say. I say good luck, too, though. I've thought... hmmmm, is there something better? And then just said GL anyway
haha this is what I was thinking!
