Do you rinse horns between pumps?

I usually just wipe them down and use again, since I only pump 2x a day.

Re: Do you rinse horns between pumps?

  • no, I don't even wipe them down. I pump three times a day, but if BM can sit out for 8-10 hours, I figure it's fine. I wrap it up in a cloth diaper between uses and have been doing this for 6 months

I rinse them because the milk fat was solidifying between pumps if I just stuck them in the fridge and it was really hard to get them very clean again.  When I rinsed, cleaning was easy.

Nope. don't even wipe them.  If I am working from home, I put them in the fridge.  If I am working on the road, I put them in my cooler.

  • I have 7 sets and after each use I remove and rinse the membranes, and throw the rest of them in soapy water to soak.  So yes, I wash between each pumping.

  • I used to just throw them in a zip loc bag with a paper towel inside, put them in my cooler bag and put them in the fridge.  I figured any droplets of milk would stay cold and be fine.

I never did, just a quick wipe and threw them in a big ziploc bag till the next session.  Cleaned and sterilized at night.

Yes, I rinse them and leave them out to dry. If they are still wet when I pump again, I wipe them down.

I rinse them w/ hot water in the sink, dry with paper towel, and toss in a big ziploc bag.

This exactly.  I just stick them back in the fridge and at the end of the day I will wash them.
