NTR: Tell me about your washer and dryer

We just bought a new house, and we need to replace the washer and dryer. Recommend yours!

TIA

Re: NTR: Tell me about your washer and dryer

  • We have an LG front loader washer/dryer set.  We've only had it a few months, but so far so good!  There is a quick wash setting where I can wash and dry like one outfit in 35 minutes or so, which has come in handy.  Otherwise it gets my clothes clean.  I wish I had the pedestals so I didn't have to bend down so much, but they're something like $200 a piece, so we passed.  Oh, you do have to be careful to keep the washing machine door open- if water stays in the seal on the door, it can cause a terrible, horrible odor.  Haven't had that issue with ours, but my mom did.  HTH!

  • We got ours several years ago, but at the time they were rated the best by Consumer Reports. We have the Kenmore, HE front loaders and love them. However, I do look forward to getting new ones some day that have the steam option.

Our first baby girl, Lucia Joy, joined us on April 1, 2010!
  • We have a Kenmore washer and dryer purchased 2 years ago.  Top loading washer because I wasn't about to pay over a $1K EACH for the front loading kind.  We did get, basically, the top of the line top loader though.  We love them.  LOVE THEM.
  • DON'T get a maytag. That's all i have to say. We bought a front loader for close to a grand, and it NEVER fully empties of water. Even with the door open, we have to keep bleaching the helll out of it because there's mold buildup...and we can't wipe it down or make sure it empties of water.  I called the company to complain and was basically told to keep pouring in bleach...and if i didn't, of course my poor maintenance led to mold...WTF...so i paid almost $1k for a machine that is poorly made, and I'm the @ss.  Cool.  Lots of my mom's friends bought front loaders (all different companies) and almost none of them are happy with their machines.  When we moved, the seller left their machines, so I have a top loader now. (still maytag, can't wait to get rid of it!) But it's better than my FL..also, if you get a FL, none of that last minute "oh, crap, i forgot to add that to the wash, better run downstairs and put it in" items.

    Good luck!
