Toddlers & birthday party advice

If attending a birthday party for a 1 year old, is it a good idea to bring a little something for a 2 1/2 year old sibling?

I would hate to have the older boy's feelings hurt and he's probably too young to understand why he's not getting presents too.

    Not to birthday parties if it's a baby shower or a meet you new baby party I do bring something for the new older siblings.

    I probably wouldn't. I know I don't want people getting in the habit of doing it for my kids .... they have to learn that we celebrate each of them individually.

    I wouldn't, if you wanted to I would do something very small like a coloring book or a new pail and shovel.  I wouldn't want people getting in the habit for my kids but then again I would TOTALLY appreciate the gesture and it is a good idea in theory, specially because 2.5 years just don't get it.  Actually, now that I type, I think it may be a good idea for this year, but I wouldn't continue the trend as they get older, they do need to learn eventually but I think about my toddler and how much his life has changed this past year, and you could do it as more of a congratulations, you've been a big brother for 1 whole year, you are the best...blah blah blah :)  Sorry, this turned long, lol!

    Thanks for the advice.  I think I'll get some sidewalk chalk, I know he's been wanting that.

    If it were my kid, I might, but just friends, no.

    I wouldn't and I didn't for my nieces.  The older one was very excited about the gifts and kept thanking people for "her" gifts.  It was cute and really, everything was shared toy-wise.

    No.  DD understand even at 2 that when she attends a birthday party, she takes a gift and does not receive one.  She gets gifts on her birthday.

    Plus, I've never really been to a birthday party where there hasn't been some sort of goody bag, so the sibling would have that.
