From bittersweet to just plain bitter
I posted last night about today being the two year anniversary of my moms death and the day I find out the gender of the baby.. I'm having a daughter. But during my the ultrasound they noticed she has a severe case of spina bifida. She will never be able to walk, the kicks i've been feeling are involuntary spasms. My chances of making it to full term are very slim. Dh and I are both 20 no birth defects on either side. I dont get it are chances were so slim. I truly hate May 2nd.

Oh, honey. Don't lose hope. You have a little fighter there. A little girl with a fighting spirit who you'll admire for her strength and beauty, inner and outer. I suggest finding a support site for parents with kiddos who have SB. You'll see so many wonderful, bright children... Joy will pervade. Also check out the Special Needs board here at TB. It's a great site.

Oh hun, I'm so sorry you got bad news about your daughter on today of all days. Fingers crossed that she continues to fight and proves the doctors wrong with what she can accomplish.
In addition to the suggestions forensicmama made, I'd also like to recommend this blog if you are interested. One of the triplets, Anna, has spina bifida.

I'm sorry...
one of my best friends has spina bifida and is in a wheel chair because of it. she and her family were told many times that she'd never survive, etc etc
but she is 27 years old and living life..she graduated college, lives on her own, drives, etc etc...it is NOT a death sentence..your baby can still have a wonderful life
Terribly sorry but stay positive. It was a very inspirational photo of Spina Bifida womb surgery that was around a few years ago and the little boy is doing well.
