At my 20 week appt, the NP said my urine was +1. She quickly said, "So drink more water," and then moved on. I had a bunch of questions this appt. and forgot to come back to that. From my understanding, protein in urine is either an early indicator of pre-eclampsia or a sign of wacky glucose levels . . . yes? No? Is plus 1 a common thing? I've been drinking more water since the appt and have googled my little heart out but am having trouble understanding what +1 could mean, if anything.

Re: Protein in urine
+1 is considered a trace amount. Just up your water intake and see what your doctor says next time. If your BP is okay, then you should be fine.
My high risk OB is more concerned with Ketones in my urine when it comes to GD. So don't worry about that just yet.
This would make sense! I've noticed that lately I've been getting lightheaded if I don't eat enough, and I am always craving "real food" as I call it. Not junk. Filling, healthy food. And I'm a vegetarian, so getting enough protein can be harder sometimes, especially with food aversions. I'm going to get hardcore about getting protein. Thanks, April!
