Unnecessary warnings in titles?

Is there a reason you guys have put unnecessary warnings in your post titles? are you making fun of us or having fun? It just seems... well unnecessary

I don't think a lot of the warnings in the titles are necessary unless there is a pregnancy ticker, but that is me. So I agree with you, Nikki.

Something happened a long time ago on this board, I don't even 100% remember the whole story. But one of the members then started putting (... mentioned) in all of her titles poking fun. We're just bringing it back in all good fun. Big Smile

Like Cashews said, people are just having fun. I think this was before I came on board so I don't think I was here for the "mentioned" debacle so I have no idea who the Bumpie is that started it all.

I always wondered about it, too... but not sure how it seems snarky...?? Just a little odd. Made me wonder if I was posting wrong...but knowing this board, if I posted in a way that upset anyone I would know about it FAST.

It is kind of annoying when it is all in a row like that and the whole page is plastered with them...just sayin'. It is one thing to poke fun, it's another to do it multiple times in one day...but whatever.

Agreed - 100%. I know I've just used it in fun before. Not to make anyone feel bad - just to draw people in (chocolate & coconut ment'd) - h3ll yeah I'm clicking on that! I don't think there was ever a malicious intent.

OP-it's a joke...noone is making fun of anyone else and I think you're taking it way too personally and honestly using it as an excuse to be snarky to Cashews when there are plenty of people (myself included) that have used () today.

I also just find it ironic that the FB group was "deleted" the day after I called you out for making fun of my post on it. It may be deleted but did it happen that day? I don't know.

This board may need a good laugh but it doesn't need to be at the expense of others.

I don't even remember your call out to me at all... so i'm sorry if I seem lost here.

I didn't run the FB group and had no way to delete people or delete the group. That was all run by a few other members of the board. In all honesty, i'm not even close to the members who ran it, so even if I asked them to delete people or the board they wouldn't.

You can ask anyone who was in that group. SockMonkeySam (Amye) deleted the group!

As for being "snarky" or "making fun of people", I can only remember doing that to one person on the board. That's when I thought JessieLMK was TwistedMetal. So many things lined up with so similar between those two, I thought she was her and wanted to protect the board. I really try not to make fun of people, and i'm sorry if I come off that way... but it's not my intention at all.

I usually stay out of this stuff, but I don't understand how we're poking fun by using "ment'd" in a post title. Other ladies use "Late loss ment'd", "m/c ment'd" and we're not mocking these posts or the content in anyway - nor would we ever, ever do that. These posts are received with support and kindness.

So why is the use of "ment'd" in a completely unrelated post a bad thing? We are simply calling out that something that may be of interest to another party. i.e. chocolate, candy, coupons, etc. It's funny and lighthearted.

It seems like we're getting a cliff notes version before we even open a post, and can be distracting and annoying, yet, other posters have been doing it for awhile and no one says anything. I know in the past it was done out of humor but if everyone is getting annoyed, maybe we should limit the use to pg/baby related things all around.

LOL cats and memes get annoying after a while too. I can see the (mentioned) thing getting annyoing after a few days. But we haven't even used it for 12 hours! It's just a little fun. What's so horrible about it?

2) You weren't kicked out, it was deleted, and not because of you. Promise

3) I know it's annoying, that's why we did it. Lol. There are plenty of overused things on here that haven't been called out....yet

This. We're not flaming you or anything here. We're just trying to let you know where we are coming from. If anything, you're the one who came in throwing stones telling me that I "poke fun" a lot. I didn't put the "FB Mentioned" in my prev post to be snarky and I don't know the joke from before that's been referred to - I just put it so no one would think it was a medical related issue, something serious, just that it was a FB rant. I apologize if it annoyed anyone - not my intention at all. I don't know what I'd do without you ladies so I would never do anything intentional to offend or upset you.

I'm going to go take the warning out of my prev post - again sorry. Embarrassed

I've been around a long time and I don't even remember the whole scenario. I think it started with someone complaining about tickers ot DC pics or something. (this debate comes up every few months...are they offensive, should they be deleted, etc) or maybe it was about BFP announcements. Any way, whatever the cause, there was a big flame fest/debate. Feelings were hurt and mended ( typical day on the bump) and the "mentioned" did start to be used as a joke. It is no way intended to poke fun at people who use it as a true warning. I actually like it. If it is about something funny or stupid but I'm not in the mood to read something like that, I can skip the post. Not all post titles indicate the actual subject.

Well, I thought it was funny, but everyone's sense of humor is different. Seemed to me as though it was all in good fun considering the subject matter of the posts.

I personally think sometimes the sensitivity level on this board is a little high, but again, this is because everyone is different. For example, for me personally, I would never be offended if I opened an innocent post to find a ticker or baby photos and there was no warning. Things like that don't bother me. However, I understand that everyone is not like me, hence warnings. I'm cool with that.

The most important thing is that at the heart of it all, I don't think anyone here wants to hurt anyone's feelings. Period.

used to draw people in and peak interest in a certain light hearted off topic subject. I would have never guessed or thought it was done to be malicious in any way or even done as a joke...maybe I'm clueless.

I just want to make sure that people don't miss the first part of my post. There is one person on this board who's coming to mind who does this consistently and I feel like if Cashew's going to get called out for a harmless joke, this person also needs to stop.
