The only stage I don't have covered is the newborn. I'll probably get 2-3 dozen GMD prefolds, the orange edge, for the first few weeks. I already have 3 newborn sized covers.
For the rest, I have a nice stash of BG 3.0 small (10), 4.0 OS (20), FuzziBunz OS (4), Happy Heiny (8) (their factory is not too far from my house), Rumparooz, and Kawaii.
I prefer pockets/AIO to fitteds, but I do have a couple Goodmamas that I was able to get for an awesome price from CL.
Amazon had a coupon code for FB not that long ago, and couple with the $10 off and 20% off coupons found in various baby magazines, they were around $4/each.
I got the Kawaii from a deal site, it was a daily deal one day.
And most of the rest from CL, though I did buy the BG 3.0 from cotton babies for 9.95/each and free shipping.
This is my stash so far, the main thing I need to still get is prefolds for the newborn stage (I'm thinking about doing indian prefolds, they're so inexpensive & have good reviews), and maybe a couple more covers. I'm sure as I'm learning what works I'll stock some more depending on what works.
I've only finished my newborn stash. I've got 24 diapers and 6 covers for each baby plus 6 AIOs. This is what was reccommended at the local CD store I visited for doing laundry every other day. (I'll probably end up with a few more, it's become a bit of an obsession they are so cute!)
I'm planning on doing OS once the babies are big enough to fit into them. I think I'll get a variety of different brands/styles to see what works best once LO's are actually here. So I won't be stock piling these since there are so many more options once they are past the newborn stage and I have no idea what will work with my babies.

I use thirsty covers over cloth-eez prefold diapers. They work great. I have 4 covers in small and medium and 24-36 diapers in those sizes. I did not buy any newborn cloth diapers and just used disposables for a couple weeks and then my son fit into the small size. We wash our own diapers, which works well and is really easy if you are BFing until they start eating food (at which time you have to rinse out poopy diapers). There are all kinds of all in one diapers and such but these are a lot more expensive and we don't mind the system we use for how cheap it is. In my town you can find used covers at second stores. I get my diapers and covers and snappies to hold the diapers together at: https://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/. They also have the wet bags for dirty diapers, etc.
For the newborn stage we used prefolds and Kissaluvs with a cover. As DS got older/gained more weight we used BG one size. I kinda fell out of love with the BG and now really like AIO or AI2. I tend to use Piddle Poodle and Nana's Bottoms diapers as well as the occasional GM and B4's.
we have about 20 bamboozles and 3 covers for each size. The diapers go from birth to potty training, though the newborn stage they were SUPER bulky, so I might get some grovias...we'll see.
I have 3 SM covers, 3 Med. and 3 large, and we do just fine.
For my DS we have 19 all in one Bum Genus 4.0 diapers. He was born at 8lbs so he pretty much wore them from the beginning without much problem. This time if the LO is smaller we will probably use a newborn brand till LO can fit into the BG.
Re: S/O Cloth Diapering...
I'm also curious what brands people would recommend and where you've been finding these deals you speak of.
