So Lily has had this cough for what seems like a month now. It started out with a runny nose and watery eyes. I thought she had allergies. I took her to the pedi and the pedi agreed it was probably allergies and told me to give her children's zyrtec. I took her back for her 18 month well visit last Monday and mentioned the cough wasn't getting better. In fact it is getting worse and my kid is starting to sound like a seal. The pedi could only find that Lily has a sinus infection and ear infection. So she prescribed us an antibiotic. Now the cough is getting even worse. She doesn't sound so much like a seal anymore. But she can't sleep and the cough sounds very congested.
Is there anything else I can do to help her kick this cough? Using the humidifier seems to set off a coughing fit. I hate seeing her so miserable.
Re: The cough that never goes away...
You could ask the pedi about breathing treatments if they think it's just drainage. I would have the pedi check again since it's been going on so long. Derek had a cold like that for over a month in January and he didn't get better until after we did a week of breathing treatments.
