freezing cantaloupe?

DH bought 2 cantaloupes the other day - but we'll be lucky if we actually finish 1 before it goes bad because it's quite ripe.  So I got to thinking that it'd be great to freeze the other to make fruit slushies with this summer.  How would I go about doing this? Cut up & then put in the blender & then in baggies or other container in the freezer or is there another method?

{I'm searching online as well, because I know it's slow on here right now}

Re: freezing cantaloupe?

  • I'd do blender then baggies or ice cube trays. Makes great sorbet with some sugar and lemon juice or add yogurt for a more sherberty result.

  • Mmmm. That sounds yummy, too!

    I ended up just cutting them up & putting them in baggies in the freezer.

    I would have done the same.  That will be easier to mix up with other fruits in a smoothie, etc I think.

  • We used to use frozen cantaloupe, lemon juice, and a raspberry syrup [italian soda kind] and blend them up in a cafe I used to work at. So good!

    That's what I always do. They come out great! They make amazing smoothies.
