If you do a rest time instead of nap with your child, what age do you think that lasts through. My son dropped his naps at age 4 and we do rest time instead now (he's 4.5). He doesn't mind it and it benefits both of us. I'm just curious what age people typically do that through?
Re: If your child does/did a "rest time" instead of nap....
We have rest/movie time here where they can play quietly or watch a movie. If I skip it (like we're out) they go a bit mad at the end of the day. I'll keep it up until they stop needing it, basically. I don't make them hang out alone or anything so it's not a huge deal either way.
DS (4.5) stopped napping at 2 and my 2.5 year old doesn't nap very often anymore either.
DD dropped her naps completely by 2.5 (it was off an on from the time she was about 22 months).
She gave up quiet time at 4.5. It was sort of a mutual decision. She was allowed to listen to CD's and stuff during quiet time and by 4.5 (her little brother was 5 months old) she was starting to bug him while he was napping.
She plays independently frequently, though so I didn't really *need* it for me any more.
