I hate it when parents get professional photos of their kids, particularly sons, but do not put dress shoes on them.
Just now I looked at my friends professional photos she had done of her boys, they looked so handsome in button down shirts and khakis... but they had on bulky tennis shoes. They stood out to me and I just couldn't get past it.
My SIL does this with her boys too, they wear tennis shoes for everything.
They need dress shoes, people!

Jene, this doesn't apply if you have him in jeans. Chuck Taylors match just about everything!
I think Chuck Taylors are perfect dress attire! In fact, I was in a wedding last weekend - and the whole bridal party wore them for the reception

Baby Sister is coming soon!
I agree to an extent...Nicholas has such itty bitty narrow feet that we have a hard time getting shoes to fit him and generally have to get him some sort of lace up that we can pull REALLY tight. There arent many (if any) dress shoes that I've been able to find that fit this criteria especially in an infant size 2 (which is still a little big haha) In general having Nicholas and his special issues has made me give parents A LOT more slack since you never know the story but if you KNOW the story about your nephews and they still just wear goofy tennis shoes than thats just poor taste haha
Oh and FWIW Nick has his play shoes and his dressier tenny's
This is us...well, DS has a pair of Saucony gym shoes. Since he has such a wide foot, we have to buy wide shoes for him. I'm not spending $40+ for a pair of shoes that he may wear 4-5 times before growing out of them. We aren't fancy people and don't go out much, so when we do his gymmers work fine. Plus, I think that a picture should match the kid and be reflective of his everyday personality and style, but that's just me.
This is pretty much us, too. We don't go to church (yep, going straight to hell) and there's virtually nowhere else that we go that dress clothes and shoes are necessary. When Justin was littler, I did buy him a pair of dress shoes for a picture, but he only wore them that ONE time! Giant waste of money.

My brother and his entire wedding party, even my 2 year old nephew, wore Chucks with their suits for his wedding (which was otherwise formal), ceremony and all. They were black though. That makes them dressy.
Otherwise, I agree with you Melissa. It would be fine for casual outfits/photos but with dress clothes? Why?

I can't wait to put Jacob in his Sperrys, once Mother Nature decides to cooperate.
I have to add that I completely understand what you are saying, Mel, and I completely agree. As a mother of boys, shoes are pretty much the ONLY fun accessory on which we get to "waste" money. Our boys probably have more shoes than DH owns.
In general, I don't understand spending money on an outfit (much less photos of someone IN an outfit) unless you are also willing to "finish" the outfit by pairing it with appropriate footwear (and I agree that for kids 2U, appropriate footwear includes bare feet).
I saw knee high Sperry boots, in my size, last week at the zappos outlet. I briefly considered buying them.
I demand a linky.
Oh girls, can't you just agree with me!? Must you always have such valid responses?!?
I understand wearing chucks or tennis shoes with jeans or more casual wear, but I just cannot do the dress khaki and tennis shoes route. It's about finishing the outfit.
I understand that they won't get alot of use out of those shoes, but you can find brown shoes for boys for $14.99 or less. Totally makes it, or breaks it IMO.
Oh, and Sperry's.... my kids are totally getting those, although probably knockoffs since I am cheap.
I'm fairly cheap with B's shoes, too. Just so you know, Target has knockoff Sperrys in blue madras plaid. SO CUTE!
