DH and I are stumped. I work part-time, and we leave DD with my MIL 2 times a week (for 2 months now). She feeds her a bottle (I EBF when at home), and it seems like no problem. Naps are probably in grandma's arms, but she'll never confess. I come home, and DD seems a bit wacky about her sleep, but not too bad.
DD has refused to eat 3 times now. The first time was about 3 weeks ago, when my MIL babysat on a weekend night. DD was wailing when we got home, hadn't eaten, and we attributed it to overtiredness. I talked to someone, and they suggested I switch to a number 2 nipple on her bottle, and my MIL hasn't had problems since.
However, last Thursday and this Thursday, my mom filled in for my MIL, and she had a lot of problems getting her to sleep or eat. She called to find out where the Tylenol was, and when I called back, DD was screaming her head off (never happens with me). She wouldn't nap unless my mom was holding her (she probably passed out from exhaustion, honestly), and she ate less than half of the milk I normally leave for her. My DH said she wouldn't eat for him, either, but she was at least more content.
Do babies get "attached" this young (she's a week shy of being 4 months)? She sees my MIL probably 3-4 times as often as my mom; would she honestly see my mom as a "stranger" this early? Any other similar experiences or ideas of what is going on with her?
TIA
