when im in the shower and shes in her swing sleeping i have to get out and check on her dripping wet at least twice when i "hear" her crying... shes always fine and still asleep... it's just in our brains
I haven't heard that yet. But the other night DH and I were on our first date since LO was born. There was a baby somewhere in the restaurant and his/her cry sounded just like LO.
When we were in the hospital still, the nurse took R for a bit so I could sleep, well that didn't work out, the entire time I could "hear" him breathing funny and fussing and I kept waking up

That happens to me all the time too. And he's almost always sleeping when I "hear" it.
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)
I've done the same thing. I also startle myself awake on a regular basis thinking I'm holding the baby in bed. I get so freaked out that I've smothered her before I realize that she is sleeping peacefully in her pnp and I'm just snuggling the covers. I've even woken myself up holding the covers and patting them like I would do with the baby.

My husband does that all the time. He is sleep walker/talker so its an almost nightly event for him to be searching through the sheets for the baby. Hes always still asleep but hes frantic and I always have to remind him that Cooper is safe in his crib.

This is my H too. He's a big time sleep walker and I have to make sure he's 100% awake before letting him take C in the middle of the night. I don't even want to think about what could happen.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
haha yes. I hear him crying in the background of almost every song playing in the car. And somehow the quiet whuuur of the blow dryer sounds like baby crying...and the shower running...you name it

This! It never fails whenever I go somewhere without DS or DD there are little kids or babies that remind me of them. It always makes me miss them

MH is worse than me! I once had to convince him (in his sleep) that we didn't have a second baby. He was freaking out because he forgot to get up during a night feeding to take care of it. I never had him help me in the night because his eyes were open and he'd be walking around but be totally asleep and talking crazy. He did this before baby, too.

I used to do that...
I woke up in the middle of the night the other night and looked at DH who looked like he had my LO sleeping on his chest (something he's never done). I got out of bed, walked around to his side and started to pick up his arm so I could put it in the crib! He woke up and asked what I was doing and I said, "oh. I thought you had the baby." She was sleeping safely in her crib, where I had put her before going to sleep. Woah.
Also, I hear phantom cries all the time!

I did this several times during the first couple weeks...I remember one night I woke up freaking out & crying and scared the crap out of DH and LO was peacefully asleep in the bassinet...when I was pregnant I had to sleep with a pillow (kind of like hugging it) and since I did it for so long I still do it because it's comfy and I think that may be way I freaked out....idk.........I also put LO down for a nap around 10'ish and that's when I "hurry" up and get shower,make-up & hair done and I have to stop several times even with the blow dryer going because I "hear" him crying

I usually hear him in the car when I have the music turned up too loud. I am constantly pausing it to check. Funny thing is he never cries in car.
And, what pp said, I hear him when I am in the shower.
