My response to the baby trend post got me wondering. Is your baby named after someone/something? Is there a story behind why you chose the name you did?
We named our baby Cash, after the late great Johnny Cash (so cliche, I know). Both DH and I are huge fans. When we found out, we told everyone "it's going to be a boy and his name is Cash". We were right! His middle name is for my sister, his only aunt (no uncles either).
We wanted our baby's name to have a meaning. We named her Elise-which in Latin means "God's promise" and her Middle name is after me Micael which means "who is like God".
All of DD's name comes from her daddy's side of the family.
Leighanna Rae
Leigh= female of Lee which is his middle name, also the middle name of his father who passed away when he was young.
Anna= Middle name of many females in his family (or a variation of it) that his grandmother begged us to pass down
Rae= His grandmother's name that I wished to have as her middle name because his grandmother is one of the few relatives he has left (and she's very close to him)
Slap it all together, and that's what DH came up with (he's not REALLY my H but might as well be) and I liked it, too :-}
Connor (family name O'Connor DH grandmothers maiden name) Michael (my fathers first name, he tragically passed away when I was 7 weeks pg) James (after DH's best friend)
DD on the other hand, we just really liked Autumn, and Lynn sounded really nice with it.

Alina is the only name on my long list of girl names that my boyfriend liked. And it is Polish (my dad's side came from Poland and I love Slavic names)
Joy - My grandmother is Joyce, my mother is Michelle Joy, I am Christina Joy, and now DD is Alina Joy.

Natalie because, although we had several names picked out, when she was born she just looked like a Natalie.
Clare is for County Clare, Ireland. My father's family is from there and I'd always wanted to visit. When DH and I started dating I told him it was a trip I wanted to take. Within a few months we had a trip booked and, by the time we got back, I knew I wanted to marry him. So, double significance!
we couldnt agree on any girls names really so i made a list and we narrowed it down to two names and he let me pick so her name is Sofia. Her middle name Lorraine is after my dhs grandmother

My MIL came up with Preston because we were stumped for first names. His middle name is Russell, which is DH's middle name and also his late father's first name.

I was torn between Cash and Jude.
I named him Jude, because BD and I are big fans of the Beatles, and I personally love hey Jude. I also wanted something different, but not totally wacked out like it was made up. His middle name is Alexander sort of as a family tradition. My oldest brother is Alexander Chilsolm XIV (14th), I didnt want to continue that craziness, but I still really like Alexander.

I originally wanted the name Addison, which my husband didn't like, but as I thought about other names I came across Allison which is similar and seemed to be even prettier. Her middle name is Jeanette after DH's grandma, who basically raised him and he's very close to. I think the names go perfectly together.
Vanessa was the only other girls name out of at least 100 or more (not to mention the 3-4 baby name books I had him look at) that DH actually liked. I like it too so I'm glad we could agree. Her middle name is Rose, which has no particular sentiment it was the only middle name I could think of that seemed to match with Vanessa.
If we would have had two boys I would have named them Ari (after our very favorite character on Entourage, in my defense it's a nice name!) and possibly Eric, but that wasn't set in stone yet. We didn't pick out middle names for boys by the time we found out they were girls.

Wilhelmina mostly originated from DH loving Bram Stoker's Mina Harker... Dracula was his favorite book all through high school. We also found out, conveniently, that his great-great grandmother had the name, and his grandma was almost named Wilhelmina...which she took as a tribute. That works =P
Claire is after my sister (her middle name) and I figured it'd work as a good "backup plan" if LO finds her first name too weird later on in life.

My son is the same age!! lol we named him Isaiah Michael Ellis. Sounds really religious, were not crazy religious but the name means salvation of god and middle is after his god father Mike i think goes well together
We wanted something uncommon but not odd. Also I hate nic-names, like Sam or Sammy for Samuel. Also I wanted it to have a good meaning, preferably Hebrew. I'm weird, i know. We couldn't agree on anything for months and had resorted to reading names from movie credits! Saw Simon and we both liked it. Elliott we got from E.T., not gonna lie, LOL! Simon= "to hear", Elliott = "the Lord is my God".

I wanted to name him Gray. H didn't like it. So i continued to throw names at him. I lucked in because my water broke and I ended up spending a week in the hospital. He slacked a lot on the name thing, so he just said he liked Maverick, so I jumped on it, and said that is it then, and wouldn't let him take it back. When he was born I requested Gray Gordon for a middle name, and he, again, wanted to make my life easier and agreed.
I know it sounds like I pouted and got my way, but I didn't. The baby was here, and we needed to decide, and he softened. If he was born in a normal way on his normal due date, and no NICU stay, he probably would not be named what he is at all.
Her middle name was my Grandmother's birth name (she later changed it to Joan). She died in 2008 and was one of the most amazing women. Lillian is just a name DH and I really liked.
My pre-DH wanted Weston Colt but I loved Colt too much for a middle name, so that was kinda in our minds. The when talking to my mom we both LOVED tristan because he was an amazing character in Legends of the Fall (I know please don't judge lol). DH vetoed Tristan so I started going through the other brothers in the movie ( just for some names) and got Samuel and fell in love. I did not want Sam or Sammy though (I have a cousin Sammy). So i called DH up and said what about Samuel Colt... Long pause "Um.. you know that is the gun makers name right". So he became Colton Samuel lol. And even though I searched every SS name list to make sure we did not have a popular name I now hear it all over the place. lol
We both wanted a name that was slightly unique but not too weird. We both liked London right away, and I liked that it was a unisex name. My husband and I met at a concert almost 10 years ago so music has always been a huge part of our lives, I love the smiths and my husband loves morrissey so it was a given his name would have a music influence of some sort, so his middle name is morrissey.
If LO was a girl her middle name would have been Chanel, because I have always loved and worked in fashion and to me Chanel is as good as it gets Maybe next one!
I've been a huge lifelong skating fan and back in October I attended a skating exhibition in LA that featured her and the reigning Olympic champion. As part of the ticket package I purchased I got to attend a Q&A session before the show. I got super lucky and was chosen to ask a question, so I asked for baby name suggestions. The name she suggested was one I hadn't thought of, but was very nice and worked well with the middle & last names. It also got a great positive response from family and friends, even the non-skating fans. So we went with it!

Addison is the ONLY name both Dh and I could agree on. Rae is my husband and fil middle names....only they spell it ray. So her first name is just something we liked but her middle name has meaning.
DS is Owen Rhys. Owen is a name we decided we liked, after crossing out all out names on our list and starting over. Rhys was a name on our original list but I felt it was a little too different for a first name. DH really liked it though, so I suggested we use it as the middle name. We both really liked the sound of Celtic names in general, and they are both Welsh. (It's silly but I enjoyed the fact that my Scottish friend really liked our choice, lol.)
We also wanted our name combination to be something a bit less common. (We previously really like Aidan, but felt it was way too common with all its spellings.) Owen is #50 or so on the SSA popularity list, and we felt like that was okay.
Just curious, since you didn't say-what is your DS's middle name?

Now that is an awesome story! Now I am dying to know the name that Michelle Kwan picked out for you
Our baby got his name - Leif Alexander - as a way to honor my husband's father, who died about 12 years ago or so. My husband, Eric Alexander, was named by his father for Eric the Red and Alexander the Great - his father loved historic explorers. Thus Leif, Eric's son, who discovered Greenland.

Samuel comes from the Bible. "For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord." 1 Samuel 1:27-28
His middle name is Perry, which is just a name I've always loved.

We named him after both of our fathers who had both passed away unexpectedly at an early age. My dad had a heart attack when I was fourteen, DH's dad had brain cancer and died four years ago. They were both the stongest men I know. So Kevin Ronald is his name, we call him KR.

Both of my parents are deceased so for a boy we would use XAVIER as a middle name after my dad's middle name. I found his first name, Frank too common. We would use COLLEEN as a middle name for a girl after my mom's first name.
Boy name we decided on DYLAN because we loved short strong names and we felt Dylan felt that description.
Girl name would have been DELANEY..I think but not 100%..we couldn't really come with a definite.
On D Day, he was a boy...so DYLAN XAVIER was born:)

Jordyn aftr her godfather Jordan
Carlene after her godmother Carly.
Or as her god mother wrote me a week ago
"Hey Jess + Gordon (dh) = Jordyn" lol. didn't think of it that way until after she texted me it.
DD is Natalie Clare.

Molly Allison
Molly we just liked, Allison was my grandfathers last name and he passed away while I was pregnant.
I was torn between Cash and Jude.

Michelle Kwan named my baby.

DD1- Named after a kid my mommy babysat when I was younger & a really close friend of mine.
DD2- First name from my father & grandfather. Middle name from DH's mother & grandmother.
SS- Though I obviously had no say in his name was named after DH & FIL, middle name was just a name they both liked.

We name DS after my father, Jason. My dad passed away when i was 2 1/2.
DS is Jackson Ryan Joseph
Jackson because it was the only boys name DH and I could agree on
Ryan is DH's middle name
Joseph was my grandfather's name. It is so funny because everyday DS looks and reminds me more and more of him
Both of my parents are deceased so for a boy we would use XAVIER as a middle name after my dad's middle name. I found his first name, Frank too common. We would use COLLEEN as a middle name for a girl after my mom's first name.
