we both agreed on abigail a long time ago. when we were dating we joked that we wanted to name our kids after historical figures. samuel adams, abigail adams etc. then we said abigail is kinda a pretty name. dh wouldnt really agree to any other names so abigail it was. rose her middle name is after dhs great grandmother.
There were a few names I really liked, but we went with Adena because DH didn't like Adelaide (My fave!!) and it was also my great-grandmother's name who immigrated from Germany. I saw the name when I was doing some family genealogy and really liked it. It's cool to see that name on a copy of the lists from Ellis Island.
Marie is my grandmother's, mother's, sister's, biological MIL's and SIL's middle names, so it was a nice way to honor the women in our family.
We needed something 2 syllable to sound good with our last name and DH shot down just about every name I came up with. Beign a teacher lots of boys names were off the table.
I like the idea of having a name that could be shortened so, Cameron won. His middle name is for my grandfather. I think Cameron Edwards sounds good when I need to be stern too I don't like the literal meaning of his name, "crooked nose", but oh well.
Cora was our girl name after my great grandmother. I thought for sure we'd be having a girl, but a little boy it was.
Madelyn Elaine - Madelyn was just a name I loved and Elaine was my grandmother's middle name. We knew her name would be Madelyn Elaine if she was a girl by the time I was 3 months pregnant.
Elise Katherine - Elise was just a name we loved. Katherine is kind of a round-about way of naming her after my grandma. We wanted to use her middle name (Elizabeth) but she absolutely hated her middle name for some reason. When I was choosing my confirmation name I wanted to use Elizabeth and my grandma freaked out on me and begged me not to use it. lol I asked her what she'd want me to use instead and she said Katherine. We didn't want to use a name that my grandma hated so Katherine is sort of in remembrance of her.
Everett was a name we both liked, although we later discovered there are 2 Everett's in DH's family tree. Lawrence is after my uncle who died when I was 9.
We named her after a car. H and I are big car fans and our first date was a car show and we love Mustangs, and my favorite movie is Gone in 60 seconds. The 67' Shelby Mustang's code name is Eleanor. And since I wasn't going to use Shelby (sounds too southern, and my mom was going to name my sister shelby) it was set.
I have had my son's name since I was a kid. He's named after a famous english actor who I adored growing up. It's not a popular name, although a couple of weeks before I gave birth, i met a woman in the post office with a little boy of the same name. I finally got to use my "boy name" over twenty years after I first picked it

We named DS Bennett. We were between Bennett and Maxwell and I really liked Bennett while Dh really liked Maxwell. He was renovating part of our bathroom and I wanted the tile done differently than he was planning on doing it. He apparently was not happy with how I wanted it done, because he said if I let him tile how he wanted to, I could name baby Bennett. Super romantic, right? Lol. Middle name is my dad's first name.
If it were a girl, we'd have named her Ana Elisabeth. I love the name Ana and Elisabeth was the name of the baby my mom miscarried just before she was 30 weeks pregnant.

Noelle is just about the only girl name we could agree on, and Irene was my grammy's name (she passed when I was young). Noelle's Nana on her daddy's side has the "-elle" spelling in her name, too, so that's kind of cool.
