I can not wear my wedding band or engagement ring. They are both white gold. My finger looks like it gets 2nd degree burn on it and it itches like crazy.
My ears are fine though.
But - because of this little problem I took my wedding ring off one night at my ILs and I never saw it again after that. It must have gotten thrown away by accident. Makes me sick, but I still have my engagement ring. Just recently {like this week} I started wearing it, only during the day and it isn't too bad anymore.
My dr. said that it takes almost a year for everything in your body to return to normal, maybe that will happen for your ears. In the meantime - do not take your good earrings off anywhere!!!!!!

I have the exact same problem with my e-ring and wedding band. Except I've had the problem from before I had DS. I know your body chemistry can change after kids, so I waited before I did anything. it's worse now.
It's the nickel. White Gold has a high nickel content, and a lot of people have a nickel allergy.
OP-there's probably nickel in your earring posts, which is causing the reaction.
DH and I are having a new set of rings made for me; we're using Palladium; it's got the look of white gold, without the nickel and without the price tag of platinum. It's only slightly more expensive than white gold!
apaul: I'm sorry about your wedding band; that's a bummer!

Oh no, that's awful!
I figured it was probably some kind of hormone/body chemistry issue. I hope I can wear earrings eventually, but I'm not feeling very optimistic!
eta: And, I suppose the fact that I'm pregnant again isn't helping the body chemistry issue...
I know it sounds bizarre, but the same thing happened to my mom after she had kids.
I CANNOT wear earrings anymore. I put them in and within about 5 minutes my ears are sore infected. It's awful!
I was just curious if anyone else has this problem.
It didn't even occur to me that this might be related to pregnancy/post pregnancy but I have the same problem! Does it go away? I have cute earrings that I would enjoy wearing again.
I thought the earring thing was just me!!! I've never, ever had trouble with my earring holes, and now only my left ear, and top hole is getting infected. Weird that it's only the one though. It actually closed up alittle after I took them out overnight. I'm pretty sure the stud is gold, but I'll have to try another one to see if it helps.
As Runningwife said, it's probably the nickel in the posts. A friend of mine couldn't wear any jewelry until 6 months PP because of it. I've been told in most cases it does go away though.
Strange what pregnancy can do to our bodies. My sister claims her hair changed dramatically after having kids... don't know if that's the cause, but it hasn't looked the same since!

I think it probably goes away for most people, but my mom has never been able to wear earrings after having kids!
I haven't had this problem just post pregnancy, but I was already allergic to nickle like PP mentioned. The way I'm able to wear my good earings is to paint the posts and backs of the earrings with clear nail polish and let them dry before putting them on. The nail polish eventually flakes off and doesn't damage the earrings, but it keeps the metal from touching my skin.
It might be worth trying with a pair of yours
