We get so much disappointing news through this IF thing that I wanted to share a bit of good news for me and DH.
His first SA came back very good but there was a problem with volume - it was a little less than they expected. He has been researching relentlessley about how he can "make more" since these results came back last year. Really, though, no one was that concerned about it. Except for him. It was such a blow to his ego.
During my first IUI after the sperm had been washed they let me look at it. Those little guys were all over the place! And so fast!! The tech said it was the best she had ever seen. Wow! But I figured she said that all the time to calm down really anxious women like me. Then the RE came in. She took one look and said she has never seen a sample this good. She got her interns to come in and take a look.
After the procedure and laying around for 30 minutes, the RE stopped me as I was heading out the door and had me look through the microscope one more time. Those little guys hadn't stopped. They were just as active 45+ minutes later as they were the 1st minute. When I left the RE, nurses and students were all surrounding the microscope taking turns and ooohing and aaaahing. I can only imagine DH would have been dying if he had been there.
I got home and told DH and he has been so puffed up and proud of himself in the funniest way. It was like his manhood had been restored. Cute.
Re: Can I brag about DH for a second?
those swimmers are in for the long haul!
let's hope right now that they are on their way to your shiny, fat, egg!

SAIFW/PAIFW
His count, motility and morphology were all really good - it was just low volume but he did quit chewing tobacco (eeewww. I know. I hate it.) but what seemed to help was hydration.
He always said he was drinking enough fluids but when we broke it down he really wasn't even close to where he should have been. The tech told me that is the case with a lot of volume issues.
Seriously, he was drinking coffee in the morning (diaretic), a soda (again, diaretic) at lunch and a bottle of Vitamin water/gatorade at the gym. Then usually 1-2 glasses of wine or beer at night (diaretic) I had no idea this is what he was consuming and he had no idea that wasn't enough.

Hey, never underestimate how much good a bit of bragging can do for a man's ego -- especially during fertility treatments!
I'm super happy that things improved in his SA... speaking from experience, it can really be a drag when your swimmers end up looking more like, well, drowners.
Best of luck!
