Do you clean up toys as you go?

Do you clean up toys through out the day or just let it all go and clean up at the end of the day?

Part of me likes to straighten up when she naps but part of me feels 'why bother'? lol.

Part of DD's bedtime routine is to help me pick up her toys but obviously I still do most of the work at this point.

What do you do?

We clean up all throughout the day. I cant handle toys all aorund!

We generally keep the mess isolated to the playroom. If there are toys (like trucks and other wheeled toys) that made it out of the playroom, we will clean those up along the way.

Otherwise, we clean the playroom at the end of each day -- usually, we clean up right before we eat dinner because the day is done at that point for DS.

It depends on what toys and how many. I put big toys away throughout the day. I also put things with a lot of smaller pieces like blocks away when she's done with them so I'm not tripping over them and they aren't getting lost. If there are a lot of toys out, I try to put some back.

At the end of the day I bring a laundry basket and put all of the toys in it and put them away. I started doing that as soon as DD could walk and she's pretty good about helping.

I straighten up during their naps (and of course it all comes out right after). I can't help it, I can't stand clutter! Seeing actually stresses me out.

Depends on what it is. If they are playing upstairs in the living room while I am cooking or cleaning, I have them clean up before we go downstairs. If it is something like Legos, as PP said, I have them clean those up before they move on to something else because they are hazardous to the feet (not to mention all the pieces)! I try to clean as I go, or notice that they lost interest in the toy because I can't stand toys all over the place. I also do a sweep of the house each night and put everything back in its place.

We try to clean as we go along. We do have cleanup before bedtime though.

It depends on the mess. Many things we clean up as we go (paint or coloring, books, if we're playing a game, if we're in the playroom we clean up before leaving, etc...).

Generally though, we clean up 2xs a day to keep things under control. Once before nap, and once before bed. Actually, we often also clean up right before dinner, so I guess that's 3xs a day

We clean up together before nap. I've found after naps DD likes to cuddle and read for awhile then color. So after naps there are much less toys out than before naps.

We typically pick up after lunch and then again before dinner and finally right before bedtime. If it gets too crazy in between those times we'll do another quick clean up. I have to do it often with three small kids or we wouldn't be able to walk around without killing ourselves!

I do... for my own sanity.

I actually think that DS plays better when he focuses on one toy, too. When he's surrounded by different toys, I feel like he gets frantic going between them.

We clean up all through the day, I cannot handle toys (or dishes or anything really) laying around everywhere. My H does the final cleanup after bedtime

At this point I am still doing most of the cleaning up so I do it while DS takes his naps. It is really just because that way I feel like the living room is semi clean.

Depends on the day. I prefer to pick up as we go (if the kids switch rooms or at lunch time, before dinner, etc), but some days if they're playing quietly and I'm wanting a break I just let it go.
