I didn't think this would happen to me again. But it did. I mentioned in the "poop" thread below about how in the last pregnancy I had a horrible episode of constipation where I was writhing on the floor in pain from not being able to empty my insides.
Well here it is that tonight was the night and it happened once more. I had to go REALLY bad. However, after I started I was stuck at the point where my contents were located right at the exit and wouldn't budge. I also had pockets of air moving all throughout my intestines which were extremely painful on top of that. I must have been trying for an hour (missed before-bedtime activities with my kids) where I stretched to reduce pressure of my 30-week ute on my bowels, winced, massaged my lower back, pleaded, flipped through a few magazines, watched the baby move beneath the surface and hoping I don't blow through my stitch or rupture my ute... but to no avail.
I shouted for my H while I struggled to stand with my contents stuck; I could hardly walk. We found the metamucil I used three years ago with last years expiration date and thought, even if it was okay it would take too long. I was in such discomfort that I told my H that I wanted to go to the hospital but decided to have him call my ob/gyn. He did and told her how much pain I was in and that I needed relief NOW (funny enough she knew who I was and described to a tee exactly what I must be feeling).
Anyway, off to the pharmacy my H went to get my relief- in a bottle: A Fleet enema. He returned, dropped in on the bed and said, here you go, the instructions are on this side. I gave him a look, apologized and explained that if I'm having him give me the prog. shots, how in the heck was I able to do this. He [reluctantly] gave me the Fleet enema while I apologized over and over to him. Not even a minute later, I was back in business!
I can now scream, "Woo hoo!" I am sooooo thrilled right now and absolutely DO NOT wish that on anyone especially during pregnancy. I just took a glass of my just-bought, orange-flavored Metamucil mix and plan to have H purchase a high-fiber breakfast cereal tomorrow. I'm just hoping the baby's okay and that I didn't do much damage to my cervix/ cerclage and uterine wall.
Some advice I would share: DO NOT skimp on the regular intake of fiber and water during pregnancy. If anything, increase your normal fiber intake AND start from the moment you get your BFP.
Sorry this is so long but I just had to share how so very happy I am to have gotten rid of that yuck and be pain-free... at least for right now. Oh the joys of pregnancy and what a husband I have!
ETA: I knew that with the weight of the baby and everything being cramped in the ute, iron containing prenatals and lack of movement due to bed-rest can contribute to constipation BUT I had no idea that progesterone can add to it also.
Re: S/O poop and TMI, my "I feel like a new [pregnant] woman" story.
I'm so sorry you had to go through so much pain! And UGH to the fact that your meds make it worse. It doesn't quite compare to your experience, but before the hospital, I had a bout of gas pain that made me vomit. I agree that the prenatals and bed rest exacerbate the problem.
I hope you don't have to go through it again!

I understand how you felt. Well...my constipation hasn't been excruciating pain...BUT I do know how it feels to push for like 30min and it just be stuck there at the exit. I had that happen to me a few times, where it was practically about to come out, but then was just there. I almost felt faint, because I was just exhausted from the whole ordeal. What's worse was that since it was almost 'out' I couldn't leave the bathroom and resume normal activities. It was just soooo uncomfortable.
for some reason it seems to be getting a bit better. I had a bowel movement yesterday, AND one today...which is really weird. I was going 2-3 days before.
Hope it gets better for you, but I understand.
