CMV

Did anyone have CMV while pregnant? Could you share your experience? I'm afraid this is what caused Apollo's profound hearing loss (confirmed Friday).

    I don't have any experience with CMV other than reading about it. is there any way to determine if you did have it? Just wanted to say I am sorry that you are going thru this. As moms we worry about our little ones and just want them to be happy and healthy! I hope you get some good advice. Your little guy is such a cutie pie! I'm sure there are many resources to help you best approach raising a sweet LO with hearing loss. Best wishes!

    From my knowledge CMV doesn't have direct symptoms with exposure but rather can have symptoms after the fact. Unfortunately they are very non specific.  I was exposed to CMV while pregnant (I work in the hospital setting).  My OB had me go for a blood draw to ease my mind immediately after the exposure and found that I already had antibodies for CMV-I had been exposed previously which would protect me and baby.

    Thank you for the link. That's why I'm so worried and confused; I just would like to know what caused this, but my doctor (when I talked to him about it) said "Well, right now we can assume it was CMV, but I'm not sure how we'd figure it out". Which just pisses me off. Maybe I need to find a better doctor?Confused
