Could you feel your baby trying to flip head down?

My LO has been breech for quite some time... but I think he is trying to flip around.  I have had a stomach ache and lots of BH contractions and cramping for a full week now... Last night I had one really painful contraction... my mom seems to think it's the baby trying to get flipped around... This may sound dumb, but I feel like he keeps trying, but getting stuck (and it hurts)... Has anyone else experienced anything like this??  I'm hoping my doctor will be able to tell me at my next appointment next wednesday....

Re: Could you feel your baby trying to flip head down?

  • My Baby B was breech for a good 6 weeks and somehow managed to flip at almost 33w. I didn't feel it, so I'm assuming it happened in the night.

  • DD flipped breech one night a few weeks ago, and then when I woke up she decided to flip back. I basically had a 20 minute contraction while she flipped back over. It was rather uncomfortable. You can check spinningbabies.com to see what they suggest for making it easier for a baby to flip.
  • I definitely felt it - it happened at 33 weeks and it felt like my entire inside was being rearranged.  Afterward it felt much more 'full' in there and I had pain in my pelvis area where she wedged her head.

  • i *think* i felt her turn.  she's been breech for a while, but on monday afternoon i got a really uncomfortable feeling on my right side.  not so much painful, but she was pressing ridiculously hard in one area.  it lasted a few seconds, then stopped.  she was SUPER quiet for a few hours, to the point where i was getting ready to call the doctor's after hours line, but she started rumbling again shortly after i got myself dressed and ready to be sent to l&d if that's what they told me.  the movement definitely felt different, and you could feel the difference between head and feet up high in the belly.  confirmed that she turned the next day with an ultrasound.

  • I haven't dealt with this personally but have you checked out spinningbabies? Maybe some ideas how to help him make the flip Smile

  • I was 36w1d when my LO flipped and I had several days of the exact feelings you're describing before and a MAJORLY painful 10 minutes when I think he actually flipped.  It happened in the middle of teaching a group of 9th graders and I had tears in my eyes.  So yes, I did feel it!
  • My baby went from breech to head-down during my 34th week and either Sunday or Monday she flipped back to breech. I never actually felt her flip but it was easy to notice her position once the Dr pointed it out. My Dr performed an ECV on Wednesday which was successful and I felt her head come out from under my ribs and then rub past my hip - I'm happy I had the ECV because in my opinion, I don't think she could have flipped back down on her own! Fingers crossed your doctor can accurately tell you your LO's position and I have my fingers crossed for the best!!

  • I don't know that I felt it for sure, but I would definitely do the exercises on spinning babies when LO is most active- so you can help the flip move along!
